Well I bit the bullet and paid to have my hair done by the top level hair colourist at a salon. The website said they would help with colour choice and what might be best suited to your skin tone. I said maybe I'd like to be lighter, maybe some highlights, etc.
He convinced me to do something called "glossing" using Loreal products. He said it was between a permanent and semi-permanent and that it would help condition my hair. I know enough about peroxide to know that it can't possibly actually HELP the condition of my hair but I agreed. He didn't even go over colours with me like I expected, he just disappeared and arrived with bowls of mixed colour. I asked what colour he was using as he was already applying it to my head and he said a mixture of 6 and 5 levels. I ended up with dark reddish brown hair. Not much different than what I'd had before using Adore Paprika. I can't believe I wasted money on this! I mean it's not terrible but I could have very well done it myself.
Glossing is just applying a clear tint to your hair to make it shiny. Sounds like you have the perfect colour chosen already, so they decided to gloss it so they could justify charging you money.
The whole thing was just so disappointing, I expected a little bit of advice at least. I just don't think the guy cared one way or another.
This salon (Headmasters) advertises how they will give you a beverage and give you a personal consultation. It should've been a red flag when after asking me what I wanted to drink and I answered "tea please", 30 minutes later (and still no tea) he asked me again if he could get me anything. I reminded him he hadn't brought me my 1st tea. He apologised, but another 30 minutes went by and still no tea. All the other customers around me were enjoying their beverages.
Finally the woman who rinsed the colour off my hair asked if she could get me anything. I answered I was still waiting for my 1st tea. She said "REALLY?" I finally got my tea, (from her) but by that time I didn't have time to finish it as I was almost finished. It's not so much that I needed tea but that I felt so neglected. I usually don't feel horrid when I leave a hair salon but I did this time.
π They don't sound like a very good place.
What a pain! Well, he certainly sounds bad anyway. Not giving a consultation is terrible!
You should put a complaint in with the management. That guy is clearly not doing his job right.
