Lightening shampoos

Looking through my shelf of hair products today I found a tube of John Frieda lightening shampoo that's supposed to gradually lighten hair with each use.    I am in the process of trying to fade my hair, would using this be a good idea to help it along?

Nope. Nope hope nope. I wouldn't ever use them personally.

They lighten hair because they have some peroxide in them. They're not as bad as the lightning sprays, but will damage over time and there's no control over how it's lightning the hair. You could end up patchy as we all have habits in the way we put in shampoos, so knew area could lighten a lot more than another because that's the area you put shampoo on first.

I used to use the John Frieda shampoo with the lemon extract that was supposed to keep hair blonder but it was SO drying and harsh! I can only imagine how harsh the actual lightening one would be! I imagine Janine is right and you could end up really patchy from it.
