Hiya,
i have recently bleached my hair attempting to go blonde, so I bleached my hair twice and it left me with a blondy orangy tint. I have used a shampoo toner which toned down the yellowiness, but im still left with the light orange. I dont want to bleach my hair anymore, so I was wondering if using an ash blonde hair dye would help resolve my problem?
Permanent blonde hair dyes are pretty much the same as bleach. The only difference is that once it lightens it deposits color into the hair.
You need to stay away from anything with peroxide (developer) as you have already double processed your hair and any more peroxide can cause your hair to become very damaged.
You can try using a blue toner on the orangey areas instead of the purple toner and then wash your hair with silverizing shampoo
Yes, I definitely agree to stay away from anything that contains peroxide!
Like me, the best you'll probably get in the orangier areas is a cooler version of what you've got. Did you use Touch of Silver Shampoo? I find that one to be rather effective, and I usually leave it on for a good, long while before jumping in the shower to rinse it off. I'd say Provoke's Touch of Silver range is probably one of the best and easiest to get a hold of, but even though the shampoo is very concentrated, I usually need to leave it on for a while before it gets really toned.
The semi I have had great success with in toning down yellows and gingery areas is Pravana Silver, used as a toner, but there are other good silvering semi dyes that might work for you... just dilute them well if they are concentrated and leave them on for a good while.
I was in a similar situation as you. Since then though, I've stopped bleaching my hair. It's too much hassle and it's expensive. You should try re-lightening it with as low peroxide you can like 8, and let it slow cook. You'll get a much better result.
I would wait at least a month before trying anything with a developer like a demi, permanent or bleach. I would try using Pravana Silver dilutedto cool it all off, and try a blue semi heavily diluted in conditioner if the orange parts are still too strong looking.
I agree, I always find DIY toners are the best for my hair if the bleach goes brassy. My most recent combo was Bedhead reconstructor mixed with Touch of Silver shampoo and a teeny tiny drop of Pravana Violet. Left it on for about 30 mins and my hair is now a cool silvery blonde.
