Last washed my hair on Sunday and it's dryish is this normal?

I shower daily with a million showercaps. I used an iron on low heat on Sunday and not at the ends of my hair which have been heavily processed. I used dry shampoo once but only a small amount and I don't have much regrowth at my roots yet (my virgin hair was incredibly greasy). My hair feels soft and not at all greasy, but a little dry.

Is this a normal amount of time? My ends are always brittle because of many processings but the rest of my hair is smooth and slightly dry. I can't stand not showering but using the showercaps and washing once or twice a week would be amazing. However because I usually run I have to wash my hair more. I'm taking finals so been studying too much to work out. Also eating too much.

How often do you wash your bleached hair? Does it get worse when you have a lot of roots in? When I had highlights my hair would still get really greasy in the back and bottom.

I CO wash, and my hair no longer gets greasy. I only wash around every 10 days or so, if I use shampoo I notice my hair is greasy very quickly (within a couple of days) Shampoo also makes my hair horribly dry and frizzy, which is why I don't use it. Try just rinsing with water after running, or adding conditioner to dilute your shampoo. Always mix your shampoo with water in a jug before applying to your hair, you will need a lot less.  Then try replacing half with conditioner, then three quarters and so on.Your hair takes a while to adapt to less shampoo, but the results are worth it IMO.

I CO wash also, every 7-10 days. Sometimes I CO wash it before that though, like if I'm going out and I have a bunch of kinks and creases in my hair from sleeping. When I do that though, I always do an overnight coconut oil soak the night before, or else my hair will feel dry. I love CO washing + I don't imagine myself ever switching back to shampoo, ever, but now when I do wash or need to shampoo to clarify it, it feels like it gets much dryer than when I used shampoo on a normal basis, plus my hair is bleached now so I'm sure that factors into it as well.

Bleached hair IMO seems to just act + respond differently to routines/products than hair that isn't bleached, or hair that is just lightly processed (like with just demis, or permanent with 10 vol), especially the older/longer the hair because it's already been through more mechanical damage like brushing/combing knots and tangles, styling, the wind, etc..Like, all of my hair that I still have after having to give it trims from bleach damage, split ends from dull shears and whatnot, has only been bleached once. All of the hair that was bleached 2-3 times has been all cut off. The hair that was bleached more times responded very, very differently to leaving split ends on my hair than when I left split ends on my hair when it was only processed with a demi. Before when it was just with demis + if I had split ends + left them for a month, I would maybe need to cut off a half inch at the most. With my hair that was bleached 2-3 times, I left it for 2 months (because I didn't have the extra money to get them sharpened) and I had to cut off between 2-3 inches! It was awful.

With bleached hair too, I think it is much more prone to get drier than if it wasn't bleached or it was processed less. I would do more overnight coconut/argan oil soaks, and remove them with conditioner in the morning instead. Just coat the hair in conditioner and leave it for a half hour or more, then rinse in warm water. I find a thinner silicone free conditioner like Suave's Tropical Coconut works well at removing it, a lot better than using shampoo.

I would use a sulphate free shampoo if you're not already too. And instead of shampooing your hair every time, just try scrubbing a thin silicone free conditioner on your scalp instead, or diluting your shampoo like WP suggested. Ideally I think CO washing would benefit you a lot. There's a good summary of it here:

And a thread about silicones, which would be good to read through if you do decide to CO wash:

Good! πŸ˜€ Makes me happy to know I am not a dirty mess for not washing my hair too often, it just doesn't need that!

I went years washing my hair every single day using shampoo and conditioner each time and it always looked and felt great.  I think the brand of products you're using makes a big difference.  UNTIL I went overboard dying it too often that is, now I go 2 to 3 days at a time (which feels like a long time to me) and often just do a conditioner only wash.    My hair has never been oily because it's naturally dry but I just don't like the way it feels or smells after a few days.
