so you nkow when you get high lights at the hair dressers they use foils. well im wanting to put some pink in my hair (the blue ate it last times =s ) so need to bleach in the chunk, which will be in my undre layer. but i've been told that i can't use kitchen foil, as the metal would react with the bleach and i'd spontainiously combust...or something like that.
so my rainbow sheep (i have adopted this term ;D) my qiestion is can i use the foil i have in the kitchen to do my hair? or do the hairdressers have special magic foil? otherwise i'll have to use cling film and that didn't work very well last time =s

Hey pip,
I have always used normal kitchen foil on myself and my friends for highlights for years and so far no one has combusted hehehehe! I don't know the science or anything but as far as I know you can definitely use kitchen foil.

I've also always used kitchen foil blissfully ignorant of a combustion warning with no side effects 🙂 but I guess if you're a lil worried instead of tinfoil you could maybe use baking foil? Since that's okay to use under heat it might be more....less likely to do something crazy.

well that's what i thought. but the other half/colourist said i can't use it on my hair. so my plan was to try and do it myself and save him stress/time and that way i can say 'told you so' =p which is my main ambition in life

As far as I know foil is made from aluminium which doesn't have combustion abilities, but I could be wrong here. Unless of course you intend to use the kitchen foil on your head in order to cook it? I can't imagine that hairdresser foil is made from some special protective krypto-plutonium-adamantium that would be any different to regular aluminium foil.

so just washed the pink out. it's more purple than pink and it doesn't look to cracking atm, but will take pics when it's dry and day light. i didn't leave the bleach in for long enough, cos was scared =s lolz
