ingested splat peroxide?!

ok, actual emergency.  anyone that can help, i'd appreciate it immensely.

does anyone know what volume of peroxide comes in the splat complete kits?  i've been google searching, and coming up with mostly answers of 30 volume, but i've also seen both 20 and 40.  i tried calling the number on the box, they directed me to the website, which doesn't say.  i sent them an email through the "contact us" section, but i dont know when i'll hear back.

-----

...i wasn't using the bleach in the kit with the mystery peroxide.  i left it in the box while i used the emerald direct dye.  and that's exactly where my son found it last night.  he took the tiniest sip before we caught him (looks like nothing is missing from the bottle), but had foam come out his mouth, and then had lots of vomiting about a half hour later.  after he emptied his stomach, he seemed pretty normal, and went to sleep.

i called his pediatrician, but they didn't answer and don't have an answering service!!??!!  poison control has me just keeping an eye on him, going off the assumption that it's 30 volume peroxide, because of course, the bottle doesn't say!!  gah, it's been a long night/day.

I would think if poison control says keep an eye on him, he's probably ok.

But I completely understand the worry. It's quite possible he didn't actually swallow any and he vomited from panic and being scared! I'm sure your reaction would have been enough to scare him into that 🙂

The volume, no idea I'm afraid. It's probably 30 or 40.

Good luck with it 🙂

oh, he had some.  he spit up white foam before he had his much bigger vomiting episode later on.  i think he's probably ok, too, but i can't believe i can't find anywhere what volume the peroxide is.  especially considering 30 volume is probably nothing to worry about, but 40 volume crosses into much more dangerous territory as far as internal chemical burns are concerned.

Having used a splat kit before, including the bleach, i can definitely say its a 30 vol.

I am sorry this happened, i hope he gets better soon.

thank you for that info, puerkz!

...he's back to his normal self, after his afternoon nap.  he's eating and drinking, and playing!  I think we're out of the woods.

I'm so glad your son is ok!

It should be a legal requirement to list the peroxide volume on box kits.  I dread to think what would have to happen to make that a reality, though.

intemp, it really should be!! i kept reading conflicting things online about what volume the peroxide was.  i saw 30 mostly, but i saw 20 somewhere, and i saw 40 a few times, too.  the phone number on the box was a recording asking for a direct extension and telling me to visit a website, and the website led me to a form to send them an email.  ...it was 2 am on a weekend, there was no way i was going to get a response in a reasonable amount of time.  so, i called poison control, and since they had no hard information for me, we worked on assumptions, and luckily, everything worked out.

...i sent an email anyway, the next day.  i said, **poison control** needs to know what volume this is, because my toddler just drank your product and it's contents are not marked anywhere on your package. why isn't the package labeled, and why don't you have a working phone number?

the response i got (more than 24 hours later) was, "It is a 30 volume. Thank you."

ugh, you're welcome.  pffft.

there was no, "sorry for the delayed response," or, "we're sorry this happened" or even, "is your son ok?"  ...nothing.  it's not like i was asking for some sort of compensation, i was a concerned mother asking for information.  just, incredible.

so, while it's not their fault my little guy drank the peroxide, i'm livid, and just never buying splat products again.  ever.  it's sub-standard anyway.

What a horrible response. I didnt like their products anyway but if i had i would boycott them after that.

Glad to hear your little one is okay. Must have been such a horrid experience for both of you.
