Hey everyone! So I'll just cut to the chase, I am considering bleaching my hair but truth be told I am a bit unsure. I have brown hair, blue eyes and quite a relatively pale complexion (not chalk white by all means though), it's something that I think I would really suit however my family thinks otherwise and have pointed out that not a lot of people (men in particular) suit blonde hair.
I plan on making a decision within the next two days but I suppose just want some advice from you all, do you think I should go for it and if so what shade of blonde should I choose?
Apologies if this question is lacking in detail anywhere I've never dyed my hair before so I don't really know the in's and out's of the process.
Any chance of a photo? It's hard to advise colour by guessing π
No idea why blonde hair doesn't suit men in particular. Sounds more like they just don't want you to do it. If you get the right shade, blonde suits everyone.
Hi Janine thanks for the quick reply π
Yeah a suppose it was a bit silly asking for advice without anyone being able to see what I look like but am afraid I'm really self conscious and don't like taking selfies or having my picture taken.
A suppose there's not much advice to give without a picture. Could you tell me then what the process for bleaching is then, I would of course be going to a salon, how long does it take, how many shades of blonde can you choose from?
Again sorry for sounding like an absolute noob lol
"I want to bleach my hair" is a pretty vague statement. You can bleach hair to get it two shades lighter, or much more than that. What color do you want, and color do you have now, and is your current color your natural color or is it dyed? These are important, necessary questions.
If you don't want to post a picture of yourself, then simply find a pic on the internet what your natural hair color is and another picture of what you want to achieve.
You'll want to get a full head bleach and tone at a salon. It might be expensive and it will probably take over an hour. With short hair, there's not a lot to worry about with bleaching especially if someone else is doing it for you. The outcome depends a lot on how light your hair ends up after the bleaching (the strength of bleach and your original colour is what makes the difference here) and following that they will apply a toner (a type of hair dye that neutralises unwanted colours after bleaching) giving a possible golden or beige or white or whatever blonde you want to go for.
Take pictures to the salon, anything from Jennifer Aniston to Lady Gaga's hair is considered blonde but are very different as I'm sure you'll agree. You might want to ask the colourist to suggest a blonde for your skin tone if you're not sure.
