How to ombré short hair?

Hi all, not sure if this is the right location but am guessing cause it will entail some bleaching/highlighting, hopefully this is the right bit  🙂

I currently have short brown hair (from a pixie cut last year), it's currently slightly layered and just past my ears, and my goal is to grow it out long. However in the meantime I'm really eager to try the ombré look, but am unsure of how to go about it?

I'm not sure if it's too short to achieve it, or how to go about creating the subtle transition so it doesn't just look like a block of bleached blonde. Also, as I'm growing my hair out and don't want to slow progress with the bleach, should I still use the coconut oil method?

Any help is massively appreciated, thanks x

Ombrè can be achieved on all lengths, the only thing is that on short hair it can be harder to bleach the sections on the back of your head, so I'd probably ask a friend for help (better if she/he's a little skilled with hair-related things...).
Once you've decided where you want the color transition to start, start to apply bleach a little lower than that point and when the ends are covered, then blend it in your hair going upwards, basically backcombing. I find that small brushes work best for this part of the process, but if your brush is too big you can use an old tootbrush as well, just blend it in an upward motion. This way you won't have a harsh line. Aaand you should be fine...

You can use coconut oil, it won't affect the ombre result.
