How to lighten hair more evenly? And advice for what to do now

Im new to dying my hair and yesterday I decided to dye my hair lighter with L'Oreal preference platinum (very platinum). My hair was a golden blond and I wanted a more whitey blond that still looked natural. Something like this:

I used the dye and it didn't turn out too bad but it seems that some parts are lighter than others. Some of my hair is still golden-blond and some of it is too white looking.

How can I correct this (if I can)? and in the future, how can I apply it more evenly?

Also, what is the best way to check that my hair is an even colour because from different lighting and different mirrors it can look completely different.

Thanks for the help πŸ™‚

I don't have time to answer now, but for anyone else, here's the photo that isn't allowed and that doesn't have a watermark on.

I would recommend you try a purple shampoo or making your own purple toner and use it on the darker areas. This will remove any brassiness left and should hopefully leave it a cooler shade like the rest of the hair.
It would be helpful to see a picture of your current hair.
