You'd be better off getting a good bleach on Amazon, it's what I do most of the time. It's really the best option as using a rubbish bleach is going to cause more problems if it doesn't lift enough.

If you don't want it on your roots though, it's easy, don't put it on the roots. If you don't want a harsh line use the brush sideways to paint the bleach so it looks feathered. Watch some balayage videos on you tube for the technique. It will be really hard to do on yourself though.

Like Janineb said, just don't put it on your roots! Be careful to work quickly though - bleach can be merciless.

I don't know anything about Splat bleach, but I can't really stress enough how imortant a decent bleach is. I only use box kits as I live in Norway but the one I use works nicely, but I made the mistake to use another kind (Schwarzkopf, for those interested) once as the store didn't have my usual bleach, and it WRECKED my hair without much lift. Splat bleach might work just fine, but if it's not good I strongly recommend you order something online instead of risking your hair. Seriously, I'm a 'shit happens' kinda girl and I cried when I saw how bad my hair was. Don't make that mistake!

Splat bleach is not one of the good ones!
