The honest truth is after 72 hours I can see little brown dots already in my scalp line. By 5/6 days there is definitely a small shadow of growth but it isn't quite " wow she has roots" yet. By two weeks I definitely will have a solid small root line and by 3 it has grown enough to fix, but it doesn't look like bad roots until 5 weeks.
Is this normal or fast growth? How fast does yours grow?
I like when it's about a week old where there is a teeny bit of regrowth by the parting where it causes a shadow but it's not "dark roots" yet -it softens things up a bit.
I see regrowth literally the next day. I bleached a day and one week ago and I have clearly visible roots.
I can see re-growth by the next day too. I have visible roots within 2 weeks.
I'm starting to notice the trend in my root touch-ups...
I get those "dots" in a couple days, but my hair looks pretty good for about two weeks. By the third week, it's just about tolerable. By week four the roots start to show too much for my liking, just about a centimetre on top, and around 1-1/2 centimetres in the back.
So I don't think I get tremendously quick hair growth, probably about normal!
When the roots look too long, because my hair is naturally dark, against the very light blonde, it looks "dirty" and disgusting to me, lol. But the white hairs that I used to find interspersed throughout my naturally dark hair are now well-disguised... so lightening my darker roots every few weeks certainly beats having to darken the light hairs every week, like I was doing about a year ago!
Yep, one day. Yours sounds very normal.
I think I'm the exception here. I've been looking out for mine recently, and only noticed roots at all after 2 weeks, and had about 0.5cm after 3 weeks. I think my hair grows very slowly!
when I first started to bleach my hair again, my hair grew SUPER slow. It took I think two weeks to see any signs of outgrowth.
But now that I've been bleaching for a year, I think my body adjusted and my hair grows at a normal pace again. I see my natural hair color right away, but it usually doesn't bother me until week 6, when my hair starts to get greasy/oily faster.
About 10 hours to see enough dots or less, by the end of that week I already have obvious roots look going on. It has been less than a month and some areas on my head are near 2cms roots while others are between 1cm-1.5cm.
My hair grows rather fast though, a blessing and a curse 🙂 I don't let the "roots" look effect me for a few months because otherwise I'd have to bleach once a month.
I usually don't notice mine much after I touch up my roots, but after a week or so it looks like my roots just come out of nowhere lol. I think that my natural super ashy hair helps blend things a bit more with the cool tones of my dyed hair. When my hair was dyed warmer with Atomic Pink in the mix I would notice my roots the next day and within a week it was driving me nuts, the tones just clashed so much.
I don't check to see but i find that the lighter the colour the more i notice roots, I'm super lazy though and as my hair is almost black i think it blends ok with most colours so i only touch up about every 2 months!
I start seeing roots pretty quickly, but they don't bother me until about 2 weeks, when I have 1/4 inch. Like Alexia said, my hair looks "dirty" when I have dark roots against my light blonde, and I can't stand it. I try to go a month and a half between root touch ups but I usually can only make it a month.
By the following day I can see dots of brown at the hairline and by the end of the first week there's a definite root line. I actually prefer how my hair looks with a small amount of rootage - about 1-2 weeks after dyeing. I don't tend to do my roots more frequently than 6 weekly.
Within about 1 to 2 days I also see those little 'dots' right next to the scalp, my hair is dark brown so might be why more noticeable to me. By 4 weeks my roots are definitely visible and people will notice but they just aren't long enough for me to feel comfortable with touching up, I would overlap too easily. I have only ever bleached my roots myself once so I'm still pretty new to it.
Hair is constantly growing, so you will see some regrowth after the first day. Personally, the regrowth that I get is only visible if I'm really looking very closely at my hairline for the first week (like, no one but myself would see it, or maybe my husband if his face was right next to my head), and after seven days it's visibly noticeable to pretty much everyone.
I notice my roots are much more tolerable when I've used a cool-based toner - somehow they seem to blend better with the new growth, and as @im_mi mentioned above, there is actually a point in root growth that I think the roots look sort of good and I actually like them! Especially after achieving perhaps a level 9-ish with toner in a good, cool shade.
