Does anyone highlight their coloured hair at home? I see on hair salon websites they list prices for full head colour and highlights so they do both at the same appointment. Using foils though they can probably do it without double processing. But....it's really expensive especially in my neck of the woods so I could probably pay to have it done once but I wouldn't be able to maintain it at a salon for financial reasons.
I have to dye my whole head with permanent dye because my natural colour is an ashy brown with too many grey hairs lately, it's really ugly IMO. But I really want highlighted hair!

I have done it, but it is really tricky to put foils in your own hair. Maybe practice on other people first. It would also be easier to only highlight the front part and along the parting, keeping the under layers all dark. Think about how you will maintain the roots too, it is not a simple process maintaining a fully highlighted look.
