High lift developer or Bleach for roots?

Hi! So i currently have purple hair (Pravana Violet) and it's nearly time to do my roots for the first time since dying it purple. I've looked at lots of YouTube videos on lightening, then colouring roots and the end result is usually brighter roots and darker hair. I did see one woman lightening with a high lift colihr plus developer instead of bleaching, then covering all her hair with a semi permanent. This produced much more even hair. Should I give this a try? Or stick with lightly bleaching?

I prefer bleaching because you can see the colour the hair is turning. I also see hot roots with people lifting with hi-lift colour just as often as bleaching.

If you find it lifts too quickly, use a lower volume peroxide. That is a good way to avoid hot roots!

That's a good point about seeing the colour. I only use a 20 vol developer any way  as my hair seems to lighten  quite quickly. I'll stick with the bleach then, thank you! Xx

What about a bleach bath? My hair lifts way to quickly to use a full bleach as it'd be light blonde before I'd even finished applying it so I always dilute my bleach with shampoo.

Or at least drop down to a 10vol.

Yes, I used to use 10 vol but even that diluted for mine, it's surprising how differently people's hair can react!

I would stick with bleaching so you can see it work and you know what the results will be
