I applied to the tips first then middle then roots, I guess even after colour b4 3 times there was a lot still in? having dried it its actually not as bad as I thought, not all of my roots are hot just the top so I'm guessing it wasn't evenly spread? Doesn't appear to be patchy either just the roots !

That happens to me as well when I bleach, no matter what I do I get hot roots! For my hair I just saturate the roots in purple shampoo for a bit maybe 30-45 minutes then rinse out and deep condition afterwards. That usually does the trick for me, I haven't had to really tone my hair after the initial purple shampoo toning, so that might be something to try.

Give it a few days too, for some reason I always get hot roots at first but then they seem to get less noticeable after a few days somehow, it's like bleached hair glows for the first few days!  (they always look much worse when you have wet hair too!), sometimes the difference in density of your hair near the roots (your hair at the roots have your scalp underneath, whereas the lengths lie on top of other hair) and the way light hits the top of your head can make hot roots look much worse than they are in certain lights.

Hi!

So it's been a few days and I have been wondering whether I should just get a dye that's dark and dye it. Will it cover evenly if I do so? I'm too scared to bleach again despite hair feeling healthy I have had to cut it all off before and I was very down!

Some direct dyes are very forgiving and will cover evenly, I mainly have experience of reds and they are very good at covering up uneven or stained base colours. Pastels might be difficult as they will appear muddy where the hair is darker, but a lot of bright colours would work
