Hi can anyone please provide some experience with high lift colours
Can they be used on grey hair to lighten, has anyone used them on bleached hair
I have used them on black hair and gotten to a nice medium brown but put ash boosters in with a bit of green to counteract the red, just hoping to share High lift stories on here with brands and formulas
*cheers*
High lift is packed with ammonia and will blow out the cuticle on bleached hair. No one should do this. High lift isn't a popular choice on this forum because of the damage, people often come in having used high lift on the whole hair including lengths every time, particularly for reds, and quickly realise that bleach/bleach baths and a semi red last much longer and are far less damaging.
I see from a previous post that you have clients, if you're a professional you should know full well that high-lift dyes should go nowhere near bleached hair. Don't even try it. ._.

*thx* Thankyou kababra for your input I really appreciate your caution and advice rather than "Capucines" rudeness *ill*
thankyou very much have a great day kababra : ) *yay*
Hi lift dyes are only for virgin dark hair. Capucine has not been rude at all, just stated some facts.
This is a forum aimed at amateurs who colour their own hair at home. The main ethos is how to achieve the colour safely, so using high lift dyes on bleached hair would never be recommended here
I'm tired of reading professional hairdressers recommend irresponsible techniques on forums so I was harsher than was probably needed. In my personal experience hairdressers have very little understanding of the chemistry going on in the hair and it makes me cringe.
Slight variation, but if I wanted to go blonde or platinum, and I have dark brown hair, should I use a highlift dye?
Or bleach and tone/dye?
Having just read your post, you have dyed hair. So you always start with a colour remover.
