Help with evening hair out after bleaching and running out of product halfway!!

Hello all! I am new here. I am needing some advice on my dye job I did tonight. I usually use Hi lift Ultra Light Natural Blonde to get my color, but I wanted to see my natural roots before I wanted to go lighter. I have been dying my hair for YEARS. I am 28 and  had a solid two inches of roots......COVERED in greys, it´s been quite the stressful year. I immediately decided I´m just going back very light blonde, my roots are a dirty blonde, So I went to Sally´s and unfortunately I trusted the sales advisor who told me to use two boxes, or 4 oz. of cream lightener with 4 oz. of 30 developer. My hair is slightly below my shoulders and realized half way through applying it to my dark roots this was not going to be enough, at all. So I made it to where I didn´t look completely foolish by applying it as evenly as I could with what I had. I let the cream lightener process for about fifteen minutes and it was plenty light. But yellow. It got about one third of my hair bleached, the rest a high lift natural blonde still from my previous dye sessions in months past. So I blow dried my hair and honestly, it´s not a terrible blend between the yellowish bleach area and the lower half I did not have product for, which is more of a 10N I would say. I wanted to go a wee bit lighter this time so I looked into the cream lightener from Sally´s.

Okay, so question is, what is the easiest way to blend the bleached 5 inches of roots which has definite yellow tones into the rest of my more neutral hair? I want a more natural tone, definitely NOT ash in the end. Not sure if a toner would help blend the two, another bleach session, using a light dye all over to blend, bleach bath, I´m honestly not sure at this point. I have included a picture showing the difference between my yellowish now roots and the more neutral length. Any help before I experiment with something I´m not sure of will be very much appreciated. It seems it would be an easier fix but I am not sure. Thank you so much!

Its hard to tell from the picture the difference in the top versus the length but I think you should be able to use some purple shampoo a few times to balance out the yellow. Or perhaps a toner. Purple shampoo is pretty amazing stuff though on yellow bits!

I agree, you don't want to be using any bleach or lightener on it again so soon anyway so try purple shampoo or try making a toner out of white conditioner with a few drops of purple direct dye mixed in.

I know you said you don't want an ash tone, but basic color theory says if you want to get rid of the yellow you have to add purple. Add a lot of purple and you will end up ashy. Add a little purple and you will end up neutral. Bleaching again will only give you a lighter level, but you won't end up less yellow, just lighter yellow.

So! Since you have a Sally's you could pick up some wella toner in the tone you like, but that's probably a more damaging option than your good old trusty clariol shimmer lights shampoo. And you will have a lot more control with a purple shampoo of how much 'purple' you add.

Hope that helps!
