Hey Guys,
I have natural red hair (its not cherry red or light red, its a strong red colour)
Anyway I want to make it lighter and make it look more like a cherry light red.
Because I am a guy and I keep my hair quite short I will need to do this quite often (like every week or 2 weeks) as I will get alot of regrowth.
Another problem is that my hair is actually quite sensitive and it dries up and and gets damaged quite easily (so I know that bleaching/colouring is going to make it even worse... but I dont see their being any other way to achieve the results im after... I have read online that you can lighten hair using natural products such as lemon, honey etc... but I doubt these will actually do much, and i know that using lemon damages your hair a fair bit... so it looks like using chemicals/bleach/colour is my only option π
*Can anyone suggest what type of colour/bleach I should use?
I use to colour my hair for years using "ash blonde colour mixed with 9% peroxide" and the results were good... the only problem is that it always faded out within like 1 week no matter which brand of colour I used or even when I switched between 3,6,9,12% peroxide it will still fade out and be back to normal within a week (keep in mind I only wash my hair like once a week aswell, and never go in swimming pools and rarely go to the beach etc. just incase you may have thought thats the reason it was fading out)
*Also another thing i wanted to ask - is there anyway to bleach or colour your hair without the chemical actually touching your scalp, or atleast minimise the amount that is actually touching the scalp (I know the chemicals are really bad for you, and they are actually being absorbed into your skin, so I want to minimise this as much as possible.. plus to make matters worse I have a sensitive scalp).
When I use to get my hair streaked like years ago... I remember wearing a plastic cap with holes in it where the hairdresser will pluck the hair out of the holes (but streaks are out of fashion now... and i want to lighten/colour all my hair not get streaks)
*Any help in advance will be much appreciated. thanks heaps
Can you post a picture of your current hair color and what you want to achieve? It will be easier to advise if we see what you want.
you can probably get away with doing a mild bleach bath if you dont want to lighten too much or just a very quick full bleach then use semi permanent colors to dye it. Semi permanent colors last longer than box dyes as they stain the cuticle.
To reduce the amount of damage from the bleach and protect your scalp, you can soak your hair with coconut oil for a few hours before and then bleach over the oil.
For your color to last longer, you can also do a vinegar rinse after washing to close up the cuticle as its most likely this what causes your hair to fade quickly. The use of sulphate free shampoos and washing with cool water will also help maintain color.
