Help Going Lilac

I'd like to take my tailbone length hair lilac. It's pretty healthy and until 3 weeks ago, had been dyed red permanently every 4 to 6 months for 6 years.

I've done a color remover, clarifying shampoo treatments, and three bleach baths. I used 20 vol and spaced them well. My hair is holding up great with lots of coconut oil and protein masks.

I was hoping to get it lighter, but the last two BB hardly lifted the ends/mids. However, I used too much purple semi in the toner for my roots and they dyed a bit tonight.

I guess my question is, is lilac hopeless? Are all pastels hopeless?

Your hair needs to be very pale yellow ( inside of a banana color) to take pastels.
I think you should try another color remover. You can use them up to three times in a row, just remember to condition after as they do dry out the hair.
Once you do that, you should be able to tell if it's staining or if color is still in there.

If the bleach didn't lift the mid lengths/ends it is either because there is still old dye left there (in which case another colour remover or two would be the next step) or it is permanent staining.
Dark colours and reds in particular can permanently stain the cuticle, and nothing will shift it. The only solution is to go darker or cut it off.
The closest to pastel lilac you can achieve over gold hair would be a more ashy/silvery shade of blonde. You could definitely achieve a darker purple, and see how far you can let it fade, but the gold will show through before you get to a true pastel shade.
