I have naturally mousy brown hair, pretty light, and wanted to switch things up by lightening it to full blonde. I have died it brown before, so it is not virgin hair, but I haven't done it in about 5 months.
I bought Clairol Born Blonde Maxi, which claims to be able to lighten even black hair. I know this is not a one step process, so I knew it would turn out orange, which it did. Bright carrot orange, I attached a photo of what it looked like. That was last night.
This morning, I thought I could toner over without rebleaching it, and so I used Wella T14 Ash Blonde (Silver Lady) so that it would tonw down the orangeness of my hair, but I guess it wasn't ready for toner, because it turned yellow. I attached a photo of what it looks like now, as of today.
Now the roots are yellow like the outside of a banana/lemon, and the rest of my hair is a yellowey orangey mix.
Help me, haha. This looks teeeeerrible, but I think I am almost there?
I knew it would go orange and then yellow, but I thought the toner would make it normal-looking, not like this!! It is so bad in person. I'm almost there, right?
I am prety sure what I need to do is lighten or bleach my hair (again) and then tone (again) after that?
How long should I wait before doing this?
I want a dirty blonde like this:
Please help - banana colored hair really doesn't suit me, it looks so bad
You need to stay away from bleach or any product which uses peroxide for at least a month. You don't want to ruin your hair by over processing. I would use a color remover to get rid of any leftover permanent dye before deciding to bleach again.
