HELP! Color correction advice needed!

Hi there! Name's Tina. 29 in Miami FL. Over the past 3 years I've been on a mission for copper hair. After a few GREAT jobs with color melts and a few TERRIBLE jobs with "red ombre" I've been left with a weird horizontal strip of RED in my bleached out hair. I'm here to learn and possibly get some help on how to remove JUST the strip of red.

See the last time I got my hair dyed the hair artist decided it would be better to not bleach my roots and just add the red dye to my whole head. While it gave GREAT depth-- what was once my roots dyed red has been left as a red stripe HORIZONTALLY on my head. Everything that was bleached is not washed out to blonde. How can I get it all to match WITHOUT having to go blonder??? Am I shooting for something that is a technical headache? Can I JUST treat the red spot with color corrector or does that run the risk of too much blotchiness? Thoughts?

I don't think you need to get rid of it if you want copper. It's pale enough to dye over by the looks of it. It should end up even as copper reds tend to be forgiving of an uneven base.

If you really feel the need to remove the red, try a colour remover. You can put it over all of your hair.

Thanks!

I'm just worried that if I put color corrector in my whole head it'll end up uneven and/or beige. I want the brass to stay. I would like it to be a Strawberry Blonde/peach/rose Gold color like it is.... but that stupid red chunk won't go away lol.

I showed it to my hair dresser and he told me the only way to get it out would be to go beige blonde and that it would be like a $350 job to fix the red plus even the levels. I'm not ok with that... lol

This is what I am going for (light copper):

But that doesn't matter. The colour you're going to put over will cover any beige and choose the right colour and it'll add the warmth back in. It's unlikely to go ash/beige blonde though, it's likely too stained to.
I didn't realise you meant that light when you said copper. Yes, you will need to use a colour remover to get rid of the red band. It might not come out light enough ever, so you might have to put up with a slightly darker ombre at the top. They're easy to do with direct dyes though πŸ™‚

I forgot to add, with the colour removers you don't have to put it all over your hair if you want to just use half and then do a second round (just make sure not to mix all of the ingredients if you're going to do that).

THANKS JANINEB!

I definitely have some thinking to do.

Can you recommend a bleach and/or toner to do what I need? I'm always SOOO wary when going to the beauty supply store for bleach stuff. I charred the crap out of my hair when I was 15 with Flash Lightning lol It was TERRIBLE!

Bleach for what part? Toner for what? I don't see why you'd need any toner.

Well, the only place I can see the need for bleach is at the roots. But that's all πŸ™‚ I was worried you were about to start bleaching the red, which is a bad idea!

I did it! Now I just need to even it out (the original lightening had a lot of technical issues with banding). So glad to be rid of that stubborn ass red though! YAYYYY

=) Thanks Janineb!
