Hi! So the hairdresser is going to bleach my natural and virgin black hair and I'll apply the dye at home(so I can have it 2+ hours on).

I want it deep purple y special effects, she asked me to which level did I need to lift my hair and I answered a yellow was alright since it is a dark purple and not a violet or blue. Did I answer correctly?

I also mentioned my hair was black but virgin and she said that anyway black hair is hard to bleach and that it wouldn't be easy. I'm afraid of her overbleaching my hair but I'll be careful and looking at the time etc. I trust this woman but,you know hairdressers xD. I would do it myself but I'm not really good at bleaching my own hair that's why I'm looking for a hairdresser.

I didn't mention coconut oil to her because I'm afraid she won't want to bleach it with it on :/ So I'll just run my fingers through my scalp and hair with a bit of coconut oil to try and protect it a bit.

Arg! Why didn't you tell her?! Now all you've done is mean you CAN'T use it which is a waste. If she'd said no, then it's a no. But this way you won't know. Oh well.

Deep purple can easily go over a ginger, and even black hair can go ginger fairly easily. My friend is Japanese with very resistant to bleaching hair and she can get ginger, so you can πŸ™‚ But yellow is also fine. If I remember rightly you got to yellow before?

You should at least ask about the coconut oil, if she says no she says no but if she says yes your hair will thank you.

Ok don't worry guys, I'll be smart and won't chicken, I'll ask her before the appointment :3

I got yellow before, over black box dyed hair (it went more ginger in places etc) so I guess with just one bleach it should be enough. Even if it isn't, I won't let her double process my hair.

Thanks for the help!

I would be less worried about double processing and more concerned about product at this point. Most hairdressers will want to use 40 vol on dark hair, but I would ask for a max of 30 vol if it were me

Oh I also thought that could happen, and I'll tell her to use 30 vol. on my hair. If she doesn't agree then I'll have to tell her I won't let her touch my hair. I think 30 should be enough even for black hair honestly. I prefer it going a bit on the ginger side rather than it breaking and falling really.
