Facepalming so hard right now.
I've been doing everything right -EDIT: 3x colour removers before bleach bathing once a week - coconut oil - intensive conditioning - co-washing.
I've also been using a mix of Directions Violet and Neon Blue and conditioner to tone out the orangy/yellowyness. Right now I reckon I'm a level 5/6 light brown/dark blonde.
Now last time I toned with the conditioner mix, the lightest parts of my hair - the ends, the temples and the roots of my fringe did take on a slight silvery tint - not ideal but it didn't look terrible to me. I've just done my 4th bleach bath - It's these same bits that have now turned green - not even a nice tealy/bluey green, but a dull horrible ashy green - the tone is the same. I don't understand how the flip this has happened?
So, other than going to live in the sewers - what can I do about it? The colour I was aiming for was a sort of dusky pink, but now I feel like I'll have to abandon that and just throw Directions Cerise neat over it instead π
(Dyes I currently have at my disposal - Directions Cerise, Carnation Pink, Violet and Neon Blue)
If you could post a picture it would help, depending on the coloir of your hair you might be able to put carnation over it. Also try washing your hair with harsh sulphate shampoo such as head and shoulders a few times, it should pull at least some of the green out.
Thanks for your reply - I'm going to try and get a pic tomorrow, the lighting here is terrible. I'm hoping that it's just the violet fading faster than the blue, and leaving the blueishness over the pale yellowy bits. I'm hoping so anyway!
If I were to put the carnation pink over it, you mean diluted with conditioner right?
Yeah, depending on the darkness of the green bits. You shouldn't have to go aanywhere near as dark as neat cerise. Also an option if the roots do remain too green is to do an ombre of less diluted to more diluted pink on the ends.
Neon blue definitely goes green when bleached, I suspect Violet does too. If it is pale and fairly even it will be fine to go ahead with your dusky pink plan. Pink will neutralise the green, it may go slightly muddy if there is also yellow in there, but dusky pink is essentially a muddier shade of pink so it should all be good.
I can confirm Violet (and SFX's similar shade, Wild Flower) go green when bleached.
