Hi guys.
So, last year just before Christmas I felt as if I was going through a mid life crisis, at the meek age of 20 should I add...and decided to whack on Elumen Red over my blonde hair.
I've been going to the salon for years, but after having a baby and being tied for money (usually spend at least ยฃ110 on a simple all over colour) I bought the Elumen through eBay as I've previously been bright red and thought it was Elumen my hairdresser had used, and it was easy to go then from red to my usual blonde, give or take a few toners. My fiances aunt used to be a hairdresser and so I got her to dye it for me, must admit it did come out gorgeous!
Went back into the salon after wanting to go back blonde, stylist asked me what on earth had possessed me to go red again, imagine her face when I said 'I used the elumen you used before!'
It was topchic she used... she then informed me I probably wouldn't be going blonde for a couple of years ๐ฎ
Determined as always she is with my hair, she done a Elumen return, which took out most of the deep red and left me with a brassy copper colour. Currently, I've got a deep brown on it which has lightened up to a warm, medium with copper tones. We've since done a couple strand tests with bleach and it looks awful, no chance of blonde.
Could be a crazy stupid question, but if bleach doesn't work, would putting a blonde elumen over work at all? ???
Does any magic hair sorcerer on here have any miracle tips or tricks for me to achieve this quicker? It's been about 7-8 months since I put the brown over, and my roots are probably around 4 inches my natural colour.
Thinking I'll just have to grow it out, but that will take years and I don't have the patience! This is what I get though for dying at home *gun*

Nope, sorry. I don't know if it's a permanent dye or a semi dye, but blonde dye that is permanent isn't made to take out previous dyes. Just like beach isn't. If it's a semi, it'll do nothing. Semi dyes have to be darker than the hair they are going on to.
Elumen is notorious for never coming out, but doesn't always mean it's impossible.
Have you tried a colour remove like decolour remover? You could also try the shampoo/oil/bleach powder method. There's a thread about it in the tutorial section about it. I have my issues with it (you can see that in the thread), but a lot of people have had success with it when they haven't with any other methods.
I'm not sure what it is, but I know the red is one of the best for being long lasting.
I haven't tried a colour remove, other than the Elumen Return, as I assumed that would be the best for pulling it out. I'll give it a go.
I had a look at the thread thank you, there's some amazing results on there. Bought some bleach powder this morning and will do a few strand tests to see how it goes. Fingers crossed!
I tried the bleach powder method. Didn't work at all, actually enhanced the coppery red to a brighter red
Looks like I'll just have to wait it out. I can't even go to a lighter brunette as it won't lift, and I'm pale as anything so doesn't suit my complexion at all. Ughhh
