Do I use Cream peroxide & Bleaching kit at same time?

Hi all, I have bought the Truzone Cream Peroxide 250ml 12% 40 vol  and  Proclere Freeze Ice Lites Hi Lift Bleaching Kit. I have been told I use both of these products together. But can anyone confirm if that is correct and how I would do that?

Also how long should I leave it on my hair once I have it in my hair, my hairs dark brown.

Thanks all in advance!

What comes in the kit? Most kits come with the peroxide. Did you get this from Sally's?

However, return the 40vol. It's really inadvisable to use 40vol as it's likely to cause your bleach to process too quickly and cause breakage and chemical burns on your head. Most people have no need for 40vol, or even 30vol. I have very dark hair and use 20vol. You just need to make sure you're working in a warm environment. Cold stops the bleach from working well.

What result do you want?

It's impossible to give you a time though, everyone has different hair and the warmth of the room and things like that can make a huge difference to how quickly the bleach processes. You just need to keep an eye on it. Just remove a little with a tissue or an old towel and see what colour it is. If it's not light enough, just take a little excess from the rest of your hair and smooth it over the area you rubbed off.

Thanks for the reply

The kit has

Kit Contains:
• 30mgs Ice Lites Powder Bleach
• 90ml 40vol(12%) crème peroxide
• Mixing brush and tray
• Pair of gloves
• Instruction leaflet

I dont know why the said to buy both, but if I do use both, then how would I do it?

I tried to get it from Sallys but couldnt even though they were the ones who advised me, so I had to but it from somewhere else.

I am trying to get my hair Blonde with NO yellow/orange which I always have a problem trying to avoid as my hair is dark brown.

"they were the ones who advised me"

Yeah, they aren't the best for advice. An awful lot of the staff at Sally's have little idea what they're talking about unfortunately. I'm not saying we're all knowing, but we deal with a lot of people who have had bad advice from Sally's. But, to be fair, they might not have meant a kit and peroxide, she might have meant bleach powder and you didn't realise? I don't know, I wasn't there, obviously. Just trying to be charitable!

So yeah, the kit has peroxide, there's no need for the truzone peroxide. It wouldn't matter, you could use the truzone, but you don't use both.

Still, the has 40vol. It's really a bad idea. Lots of people use it in the hopes of avoiding yellow, but all it normally does is get you to yellow faster and with more damage. The higher the volume of peroxide, the faster it works with the bleach powder. Kit's often have peroxide that is too strong for anyone because they want it to work for everyone. Not that it does. The bleach powder in kits is generally horrible and just doesn't work well, so it needs stronger peroxide to get a good result, but the fact it doesn't work well also contributes to extra damage. What I'm trying to say is, don't use 40vol or bleach kits. Return them both and get something like Blondme, Blondor or Matrix lights and at most, 30vol. Trust me, really good quality bleach powder is key to a good result with minimal damage. You get more lift for less damage.

Even then, yellow is inevitable. What you need to remove the yellow is toner. And not permanent toner. They are SO damaging in general. Some purple shampoo or a violet dye mixed with cheap white conditioner is all you need. Purple shampoo is what I like to use on the rare occasion I choose blonde. Even if it's pure white you want, you don't bleach to white, that is a sure fire way to lose massive amounts of hair length to breakage as it means you've pushed your hair too far. You bleach to inside of a banana yellow and tone with the purple shampoo or violet/conditioner mix. If this is your goal, I'll warn you, from bitter experience, white is nigh on impossible for many of us blessed with dark brown hair. I tried and tried a while ago in vain because I just have too much yellow in my hair so it's always slightly yellow or goes straight to a dirty grey (which really doesn't suit me, despite it being in fashion!).

So, it depends what you mean by blonde. It covers a massive range of shades. However, basically, all start at yellow and end with toning 🙂

Thank you so much for your help, really helpful.

I am not sure what to do now. I have always had trouble bleaching my hair to go blonde and its always ended up a yellow/orange colour. Until I tried something in Sallys, which I used until around 2010 and then stopped bleaching my hair, if ONLY I could remember what it was I used now. I know it was 2 seperate things I bought from Sallys shop, and I then had to mix them together. It worked AMAZING!!! Like a really nice blonde, no yellow or anything at all.

Any idea what it could have been?

WHen you mentioned  Blondor that did ring a bell, but not sure.

What I am trying to do is just some highlights in my hair. I have kinda long hair, not that long, up to about past my ears. My hair is dark brown/medium brown.

So what would you recomend?

Blondme, Blondor or Matrix lights and at most, 30vol and a non permanent toner.

Would you be so kind as to provide me with some links and just say ok now get this in this link and this is that link and that should be fine for what you need. Just I goodled some of the things you mentioned and it brought up different things and got me confused ie Wella Professionals Blondor Multi-Blonde Powder and wella blonde lightening sache powder etc....

I use the Proclere Freeze Ice Lites with silverising agents in (the purple one). I mix the powder with 30 vol peroxide (usually Wella) to get a pale yellow and my hair is very dark and stubborn to bleach.
The bleach kit you already have should be fine to use but as Janine said you should get a 30 vol or lower instead of 40. IT is really not necessary' my hair is almost black and it bleaches past the red stage with 30 vol in 35 minutes.

Thanks for the reply, could I use Wella Professional Blondor Multi Blonde Powder 400g and a non permanent  toner like Jerome Russell BBlonde Silver Color Maximum Colour Toner 75ml Non Permanent. Would that do the trick? I want to use the Blondor as I am sure this is what I used in the past and it worked great. Any exact links would be great thanks.

If I use the Proclere Freeze Ice Lites Hi Lift Bleaching Kit  do I need to buy anything else separate? DO I need to buy a toner as it says on the box " Unique powder bleach with in–built silver toner"

its purple bleach so it already has the toner added. you wouldnt need to buy anything, unless you want to use a lower peroxide vol. which is advisable as 40 is just too strong and can cause scalp burns.

They aren't specific clips for highlighting, just so you know. They're just clips people use and others use different ones. I prefer anything plastic as metal can react to bleach.

However, those ones are called sectioning clips normally, though I'm sure there's other names for them. I prefer using plastic butterfly clips as I have thick hair and I'd need about 6 of those sectioning clips to every one butterfly clip lol

Just search Amazon for 'hair sectioning clips' and you'll get several different types come up. The ones in the video, in my option, are the worst kind even for thin hair. I mean, that was all that was supposed to be available to me when I briefly did hairdressing nearly 30 years ago but even then, at the risk of wrath of my tutor, I used butterfly clips!
