Hi, I have dark brown hair and I'm looking to go platinum hair and I'm just curious as to what steps I should take and products I should use to do it right. I've been asking people I know and been getting different answers. The pictures below are what I have in mind for it.

thanks!

You will need:

Coconut oil (pure virgin, doesn't have to be organic)
Good quality bleach powder. I like Blondor or BlondMe
Peroxide, 20 vol should be fine (though it does depend on how much red you have in your hair, you might need 30 vol, it's impossible for me to guess though)
A toner, something like Directions Virgin Snow
Silver shampoo for maintaining

(These instructions are assuming you have hair as short as the man in the photo)
Start with hair that hasn't been washed for two days.
Apply the coconut oil to your hair all over and on your scalp the night before you're going to bleach. Sleep in it, use a cheap shower cap to cover it and then put a beanie over that. This will help prevent some damage to your hair and scalp (chemical burns are nasty).
In the morning, do NOT wash out the oil.
Mix the bleach to the instructions on the bleach powder.
Apply all over your hair as quickly as you can, DO NOT rub it into your scalp. I've seen this done too often and it leads to horrible chemical burns. Save a little bit of bleach if you can, not much, a table spoonful will be more than enough. As stated, I'm assuming your hair is as short as the photo, if not, this won't be the same.
Cover with a shower cap and after about 15 mins, start to check it every 5 mins (but do not exceed the manufacturers times on the pack). Wipe a tiny bit of the bleach off and check the colour. You want it to be a pale yellow, like the inside of a banana.
Wash it off and shampoo to get rid of any remains of the bleach. Do not use conditioner.
Use the toner. You can leave this on for as long as you like even though it says 15 mins on the pack. This should take it to the platinum as in the second photo.
Use the silver shampoo when you wash it after this. (You can use it as toner as well instead of the actual toner. I actually prefer this. When you rinse off the bleach, use it as the shampoo but leave it for 3-5 mins instead. If it's not white enough when it's dry, shampoo again and leave it on for longer)

Hopefully that makes sense and I've not missed a step!

I did miss a step, but not a hugely important one. You hold a little of the bleach back so you can recover the part where you wiped off the bleach to check the colour!
