Hello guys, I am need some advice basically I want to dipdye my hair using directions pillar box red, my hair is currently dyed black in the past it was dyed with permanent black (feria and loreal dyes) but since Christmas I switched to a semi permanent black with adore blue black to keep in intense black colour, I would say my hair has been black for about 2 years with touch ups every 2 months.
Can I use colour b4 extra strength then straight after use decolour stripper? I have both at hand and want max lift for the red colour? I have also read on Scott Cornwallis Facebook that a bicarb rinse helps clarify hair before
Any advice would be amazing
I'd say try the colour removers only, no strippers, as the strippers contain peroxide (probably quite a high strength too!) and will damage your hair.
Colour removers are brilliant, they worked on my dark brown-black hair dyes quite well last year! Try up to three boxes of colour remover, as they won't remove much more dye after three doses... then see what shade you've achieved and, if you want to go lighter after that, perhaps look into bleach baths with a controlled peroxide strength.
Yep, simply put, stay away from the stripper. It really should only be used to lighten natural hair a couple of shades.
So no stripper? It does say ultra kind on it, currently doing a strand test with colour b4
I would use a colour remover up to 3 times, then bleach bath if still not light enough. Colour stripper is a combination of colour remover and bleach, you will have much more control if you do them separately.

It just doesn't seem to be as kind on previously dyed hair. As Wicked Pixie says, you have a lot more control doing them separately.
Thanks ladies, well the strand test is looking good already down to light reddy/brown! I have stupidly lost recipt for stripper so will try to exchange it in boots for a decolour tomorrow, will post a picture of stand test when it's done
We'll it came out a golden reddy colour, did the blow dry mid rinse to help stop it re oxidising and it is now back to pretty much black on the ends! Not happy π
