Colour B4 stripped hair to pastel blue

Hey guys so this is a bit of a longer question I guess, first I'll explain the situation;
So, picture this, me at the age of fourteen with my natural hair colour, very very dark brown almost light brown, then, two years later with my ginger hair which I had for two years which is the shade 'intense copper' by oila and is a beautiful colour. After finishing high school I wanted to dye my hair pastel blue, so after using colour b4 in the strongest variant, I stripped my hair and it turned out as a yellow blonde dispute the fact I've never bleached my hair, I'm presuming this has to do with the ingredients in the red dye but feel free to inform me otherwise if this is incorrect.
Now for the questions:
How do you think I should go about lightening my hair to make it a suitable colour for when I dye it pastel? I want to cause my hair as least amount of damage as possible but I am worried that dying it ash blonde will not work because of the yellow tones of the hair.
That being said, do you think that white toner would work on my current, stripped hair? As previously stated, it's never been bleached before so I'm not really too sure how that works.
And finally, regarding dying it pastel blue, those of you who have dyed your hair pastel before, would you recommend using store bought colours such as that of manic panic's pastel range or do you recommend using conditioner and a bright blue to be able to mix my own shade and then keep it up by combining the blue dye in with my normal conditioner to retain the colour?
Sorry for the amount of questions, any more tips, stories or techniques you want to add please feel free because I feel as though I'm going into this blind, thanks in advance, Estelle xx

You are quite correct that the permanent dye you were using has bleached your hair to a yellow blonde.
Can you add a pic? If it is light enough,(think inside of a banana) then you can go ahead and tone it with violet products.
If it is a darker yellow then you will need to lighten further for a pastel blue, as any remaining yellow will pull the blue to a green shade.
I prefer to mix my own pastels, by using really strongly pigmented dyes like Special Effects, not only does it work out much cheaper (major issue when you have as much hair as I do lol) but it lasts a lot longer too.

Yeah! I don't think it's quite that light which is unfortunate. Your hair is gorgeous! Mine is not that long but I do want it to last as long as possible so I think I will mix my own, thank you for your suggestion! My hair is the colour of the attachment!

I would bleach with a good quality bleach powder, that way you can use a lower volume peroxide so it is less damaging. 20 vol should be plenty strong enough if you use Wella Blondor, schwarzkopf Blondme, Matrix light master etc.
If you apply coconut oil before the bleach this will also help to prevent damage, and make the process much more comfortable.
Try on a strand test first, so you will get an idea of the time you need to leave it on for.
