OK, I'm sure I'm not the first to have this issue. My hair started going white when I turned 20 and I have been coloring it now for the past 27 years. At first, I went to a salon, but after too many mistakes and damage from bleach, etc, I decided to take care of it myself. I have been coloring and cutting my own hair for over 10 years now. I'm tired of fighting the roots and coloring them every 2 weeks, so I have decided to just go natural. My hair is now 100% white and it's pretty glorious. However, my roots are only about 1.5 inches long. I have stripped my hair 3 times and there's not enough change, plus my hair reverts to it's pre-stripped color. It actually looks like Indian corn right now. I've come to the conclusion that I need to bleach it, but I don't want to damage it. I have tons of hair, but it's fine and obviously pretty processed. What's the best method to lighten everything so I can let my roots grow out?
What colour was your hair dyed before you stripped it? And what product did you use to strip it? You may find that there is some degree of staining if your hair had been coloured repeatedly unfortunately. Can we see a photo of the colour it is at the moment? (or at least a description? Sorry, a lot of us here are from the UK and I don't know what Indian Corn is!). Oh and one last thing - when you say your hair reverts to it's pre-stripped colour, what do you mean? Do you mean you are using a colour remover and then the colour is darkening again afterwards? If so it's likely you're not rinsing it enough and the colour molecules are still in your hair!
