I've been using this forum for a few years but only just come accross threads about coconut oil for some reason!
I only bleach my fringe & the feathering around my face so I can have that a bright colour (I have long, thick hair so don't dare do it all, the rest of it I keep black). I bleach only once a month (just roots but it sometimes overlaps) but my hair seems to have been in poor condition lately so I will deff be giving this a go.

It's been over a month since my last bleach so I will be using 30 vol on my virgin dark brown roots and trying a bleach bath for the first time on the rest of my fringe because it's got leftover dye on it which has been making my SFX Electric Blue turn purple then fade to lilac =S I think the dye is purple based but my roots were blue last time with the rest of the fringe purply so I think an old dye is affecting it. I've been using a clarifying shampoo (Pantene Pro-V) the past week but think a bleach bath will be the best thing to remove the old dye and make all of my fringe blonde again without completly frying it.

Haven't washed my hair in 2 days so I plan to:

Apply coconut oil and leave for around 2 hours
Apply bleach to roots
Make up a bleach bath with the leftover bleach and apply to areas with leftover dye
Rinse and use clarifying shampoo
Once dry apply Directions White Toner then rinse
(I may leave the next steps for tomoz) apply SFX to bleached areas
Apply black boxed dye to rest of the hair

I know not to put coconut oil on before using veggie dyes but is it reccommended before applying the black box dye? Although saying that I don't seem to get damage from box colours, just bleach.
I have the Superdrug 125ml coconut oil at the mo but will try and get a Holland & Barrett one for future use.

Still no luck finding coconut oil in Potsdam/Berlin. My boyfriend and I searched literally 15 stores all around and found zippo!!

Did you try the Asia stores? That's where I get mine from. They have the KTC pure coconut oil in a 500ml tub for 3.99 here in the south, Berlin should be cheaper!

I found some today (thank God!) I found some at Vinh-Loi, 500ml for 3,69 and I bought a very "high quailty" bio oil from Vitalia, 1000ml for 14,95, a little pricey but I got talked into it. Regardless of the price, I am over the moon to finally have some! Let the bleaching commence!

Good morning from Germany 😉

I've got a question about the coconut oil, in fact if it's ok or if it works when I use the coconut oil from the cooking department in the supermarket because it is refined?  ::)
Or should I buy another one which isn't treated in any way, so called virgin ones?

Thanks in advance for answering  *waves*

If you are anywhere near a Vinh-Loi Asain supermarket (I believe they have a few in Berlin, one on Seestraße), they have KTC coconut oil for under 4euro. It's 100% and completely amazing!

Thanks therefore.
I've heard about Vinh-Loi because a good friend of me is buying his cooking ingredients there and Seestraße is not far from me because I live in Pankow so I think I'll go there.  *hugs*

EDIT: But isn't it refined?
I've read somewhere, that the refined one isn't as good that much the non-refined ones are. Or is there no difference?

The KTC one doesn't appear to be refined in anyway. I think this one is good quality and safe for hair use 😀

In meetup dot com somebody is writing this here:

Regarding the KTC coconut oil -
I just got the following email response from them:

"KTC Coconut Oil is 100% pure, refined coconut oil.

That's reason why I asked if it's refined.

I will be sure about which one using when I'm bleaching next time because my hair now has the length I ever wanted to have and I won't loose the condition of it now.

You could very well be right. I am using it right now, so I can let you know how my hair handles it 🙂

So far I have noticed a slight speed-up in processing time, in 8 minutes, the ends of my hair have gone from a very VERY dark reddy-brown to a light brownish-gold. Could be coincidence, or the fact that I am not using my regular bleach (this time I am using Schwarzkopf L1++ Extreme Aufheller/ in the US, Nordic Blonde) but I am liking what I am seeing. Let's home my hair stays where it should, on my head!

About this speed-up in processing time I read anything somewhere else, so why is this happening? Is it a physcial effect or what kind of?

I want to use the L1++ one too, just for my underneath hair. For the top I will use the one from poly palette which lightens the hair about 4 to 6 nuances because my hair lightens very well and I won't get white.

I am not certain why it speeds up, maybe the deep conditioning action allows hair to be more easily manipulated. But whatever the trick is, coconut oil is AMAZING!
So far the condition of my hair seems, passable, definitely better than previous attempts, but only time will tell 🙂

That's right, time will tell.
I really hope that it works for my hair too.
And I hope I'll get the colour I want to have.

I would think the speed up is more likely to be because you're using a different dye product rather than the oil.
