I can ignore that as I have sensitive skin, so there's normally one patch or other of my skin itching lol It often itches less if I leave it a week though.

Oh bummm. I would like to leave it (between washing and bleaching) but I have to go out tonight. Dilemmmmmma. Why do I always have to want to change my hair?!

Urgh! Just used the Superdrug version whilst bleaching my roots and it was an absolute nightmare. It's stopped the bleach from penetrating in certain areas so I look like a bloody tiger, got lovely bleached bits with horrible dark patches!

The superdrug Coconut oil made my hair all patchy too! I used my normal Smart Blonde Platinum Blonde and ended up with blonde roots and like mad brown patches. Had to wait a month to sort it out D:

I haven't been around for a few days... but I thought I'd pop in and report back that after using virgin coconut oil prior to lifting my roots with Majicontrast Red and 30 vol developer last week Monday, washing with a post-colour neutralizing shampoo, drying my hair and then applying my SFX dye, I have had very little fade in the first week.  I can't believe how strong and true my colour is staying, and how soft and smooth my hair is.  πŸ™‚

I used coconut oil last night, put it on, left it overnight.
CO washed this morning and hair was still greasy so I just tied it up and out of the way.
I had to wash my hair again this evening cos I got paint in it ( redecorating and I'm messy)
This time I used shampoo and conditioner and its still really oily on the ends, like it feels wet! Not sure whats happening here!

Rhubarb which coconut oil did you use? I used the green pot from H&B that says it's pure, not heat treated or refined but isn't necessarily organic. I used a protein treatment, a colesterol conditoner and then put coconut oil on my hair for 2 days and my ends actually feel really dry πŸ™

I've read about this happening somewhere else on the forum, it has to do with using a coconut oil after protein.  I'll see if I can find the exact explanation after work.

Will they dryness go away after a few more washes/normal conditioning? πŸ™ I've only washed it when I washed off the coconut oil so far.

Did we choose an awful coconut oil? It wasn't cheap so it surprised me :s or is it just our technique?

My hair isn't all that keen on it either, and it does come out a bit dry after, when I bleach and if I just use it alone. But, I mix a small bit with conditioner and that works very well (not for when I'm using it with bleach obviously). I do use it alone on my scalp sometimes, it's really good for my dry scalp and I've not had dandruff since using it once every couple of weeks and it's stopped any tingles when I bleach.

Maybe I'll just stick to using it when I know I'm going to be using bleach then. I washed my hair again today since I was off out and the ends do feel a little better after slathering them in that cheapy alberto balsam stuff on it πŸ˜€ so at least it doesn't seem to be a permanent thing. I got some extensions today so maybe I should give my hair a little trim too.
