yay for soft hair!
kitebunny, it is true that henna coats the hair (permanently), but that coating will not keep oils from penetrating the hair. Although the resin coating which is the residue after you've just done a henna might, actually. So do wait one wash before maybe? That residue stuff should leave your hair really soon.

Just a quick question, Would olive oil work the same as coconut oil? If not the same, something like it? Would it be a good alternative, or has anyone tried it?

No, sorry, it probably would not work. The only two oils that work are coconut oil and argan oil because of their lauric acid content.

If you're up for trying, why not, but there is no scientific evidence to indicate that it would work.

I see! I understand though, I have two cream pots, one olive oil which works good and leaves your skin soft, and another one of argan oil and that is just... amazing. So would work the same on the hair, I shall go oil hunting!

Just bought a 500g tub off eBay for Β£5.45 delivered, so excited now to get it and move on to bleach bath #3, and another step closer to white! Thank you!

Is this stuff suitable?  Or does it have to be pure, unrefined, extra (expensive)  virgin coconut oil?

I think that looks perfectly fine to me. Lots of people use the edible coconut oil (including me) as long as it's 100% coconut oil without added stuff that's fine.
It doesn't strike me as being that cheap once you've added the postage (Β£5 for 500 ml). I'm sure you could find cheaper in a supermarket or Holland and Barrett's when they have an offer.

That's the one I use! I think it's amazing, really really good. I'm a bit confused by how expensive it is on amazon though, I got mine from Tesco and it wasn't too bad (but then again it could have been a special offer). But it lasts ages, I've had mine for a year and I still have some.

Well I'm in no rush so I'll keep an eye out for offers ... but since the nearest H&B is a Β£3-Β£4 bus ride away I might just get the cheapy off ebay.
Is there really much difference between the cheap ones and the super pure, unrefined, cold pressed, extra virgin, organic, and in all other ways godlike, expensive ones?  In terms of hair & skin care anyway?

Seriously, Β£5.45 delivered from eBay, and that's for 500g. Seems very reasonable, compared to amazon!
