Clingy pink

Hello lovelies, this is my first post!

I started off with a purple (a bit darker than the attached photo) and I've managed to get it to fade quite a bit...or, well, change colors more like. But now this pink just won't leave! I've been growing out my hair for a while, so I'm trying to avoid doing enough damage to require (another) huge chopping of dead hair. Which means I've been avoiding bleaching. I've used clarifying shampoo, this treatment (minus the developer) http://www.hairdyeforum.com/index.php?topic=12029.0, gone swimming...I've never had good results with color removers for fashion colors in the past, so I've skipped that. Should I just bite the bullet and do a bleach bath or is there something else I should try?

What is the ultimate result you want?

Well, I'd like to go turquoise and green. I haven't had a blue shade in ages. I'm willing to go a darker blue if need be. But the last thing I want is to slap blue over pink and end up back at purple...and possibly an unappealing shade of purple.

I think if it won't fade anymore its time to bleach bath. Luckily turquoise usually eats up light pink so thats good, just strand test as you go. I'd advise bleach bathing a chunk then dying it so you have an idea of what the result will be like. Your hair looks lovely now though, I have turquoise hair and want it pink really so I'm jealous :p

Which colour removers have you tried? Some of them are MUCH better than others. Scott Cornwall Decolor Remover has always worked well on my hair, and I know others have had success with Jo Bazz. Although from your spelling of colour 😉 I suspect you're USA-based... I can't remember the names of the USAish colour removers that are good - sorry!

Directions Turquoise works well over paler pinks, so if you could fade that down a smidge it might take. It could go somewhat purplish but (in my opinion) turquoise and pink make a fab violet-purple! From violet it's not to hard to work round to blue and green.

I know this isn't any help but I adore your pink!

Although a way different colour, my roots are still as pink as your hair while the rest turned in to a biscuit-with-pink-glace colour.

I might try the treatment as I haven't tried that one yet.

That is the exact color my hair gets stuck at when I try to fade my pinky purple out too lol. I would at least try a color remover like One n Only Colorfix is the best US one IMO, then do the combination fading treatment again after, again without the peroxide. Then I would make a paste out of bleach powder + hot water and try that on a test strand, and test strand a bleach bath before you go right for bleaching it all. Most people that I've seen use the paste method end up getting a lot more color out than bleach bathing.

The treatment DID work, I should say. It definitely helped me go from the dark purple to what I'm at now. This pink is just being stubborn. So yeah I'd definitely recommend giving it a go.

I just tried the Lush I love juicy and that actually worked quite well but I feel more is possible.  🙂

The only thing I don't have atm is olive oil so it's for later this week! I know one thing for sure: cerise is not my colour.  😛

Ah you guys caught me, I am (unfortunately, haha) from the US.

I do appreciate the compliments to the pink, it's always nice to have a pretty color in the in between stages!

I'll definitely give the  One n Only Colorfix a try, thanks! I've only tried Color Oops and L'Oreal's Color Zap in the past. And I'll give the bleach paste a try if I have to.

Thanks for the advice guys  :-*

Isn't the trial and error of hair so much fun? ???

It's a beautiful colour but the dye (Directions cerise) seems to hate my guts. 😛

Any idea which turquoise and green you would like?

I like Colorfix a lot better than Color Oops, and better than strippers like Color Zap and Effasol. It's never failed to remove years of permanent black dye for me, but still, with semis it can be hit or miss. Even with the same exact color on two people, it may work amazingly well on one person but not do much at all for another. It's worth a try though! What pink is it that is stuck in your hair? Or is is just the remaining pink from a purple?

I haven't really decided on exact colors yet, I'm kind of just playing it by ear with how much of the pink I can get out with minimal damage. Buuut in a perfect world I'd say Directions Turquoise and Spring Green? Or maybe Apple Green...Or I might just use Manic Panic's Atomic Turquoise and Electric Lizard/Green Envy since they sell it here in the US and I wouldn't have to order it online (as a matter of fact the store I work at sells it so I'd get a discount). Blah, decisions decisions!

Yeah it's definitely worth a shot! I did have pink before the purple, but it was a really pastel pink and I'd gotten it almost back to blonde before I did the purple so most if not all of this is from the purple. I used Adore's Violet Gem.

So, I did a hot coconut treatment and washed it out with Lush I love Juicy and some Inecto conditioner. Near the roots it's still very pink, the lengths however are strawberry blondish.

That worked! I'm now a bit concerned how to show up at work decently. Perhaps I'll wear a hat.
