Chemical Burns =/

Okay, so my friend recently decided she wanted to go platinum, her hair had been recently cut to a short pixie so it was all her natural colour.

Now the problem, she went to her hairdressers who charged her £200 (I think this included the cut) to do it, but after having the bleach on her scalp started bleeding but her hairdresser told her this was normal and it would stop in a few days, from what she told me they never did a skin test on her first. The next day she went to her doctors who told her that she had chemical burns all over her scalp and it is a possibility that her hair is going to fall out because it is pretty bad. She is terrified that she will lose her hair and is wondering if it'll grow back.

Have any of you ever had or seen this happen? Did it grow back?

Thanks in advance =)

oh my god O_o that's just horrible! It's never happened to me or anyone I know so I'm not sure on advice, but if it comes to it there are some really good wigs available, and shaving her head in itself can be a really good edgy look.  There are many stunning alt models who shave their heads including the beautiful Helene Atsuko ( http://www.modelmayhem.com/1002918

BUT it may not necessarily come to that - Hopefully it will grow back. Meanwhile - that hairdressers is dangerous and should not be operating, Can she report it to a trading standards authority?

Good luck with this hun I'm really sorry to hear it's happened, hope you get a more helpful reply soon x

Thanks for the comments, she has some meds from the docs, just have to hope it all goes okay. I told her to report them as they clearly shouldn't be open, but not sure what she is going to do, she went back to them and complained, they told her it was just sensitivity (which I still say they should have tested first) like it was her fault but gave her the money back.

i used to do hair professionally and we are taught a very simple rule, if a person is in pain or discomfort you look at their scalp if you see irritation you rinse out right away! what they did is criminal negligence, i hope she got her money back, and i hope she tells everyone who will listen not to go to that place, that is irresponsible hair dressing, and it really pisses me off, because as a stylist you have a responsablity to provide a pleasent safe experience... grumble grumble.

Oh jesus, thats terrable, The hairdresser should wash off any chemicals on the scalp when they see the slightest bit of red, let alone BLEEDING! Also they should of done the skin test, she could of had a serious life threatening reaction to any tints present in the bleach. Your friend has every right to speak to a lawyer about this as its really serious. As they caused physical harm her, after knowing they should of washed it off, she can sue them, and sue them for even more if she has long term damage. The only reason they didnt wash it off is because they knew she wouldnt pay if her hair wasn't fully bleach. Turns out its gonna cost them a hell of a lot more if your friend takes serious action against this.

I agree, she must do something about this, this hairdresser could do that to more people and cause more damage... :

Pretty sure the hairdressers probably broke Health & Safety Regs by not testing the skin sensitivity beforehand. I hope her skin recovers okay and that the hair grows back okay. If not, I'm sure there will be options for her.

I also had a 'mare with a salon once who put bleach on for 3 hours and it still didn't go blonde properly. God knows what they were using because when I do it at home using 20% it only takes 15 minutes at the most! And this was a Salon who specialized in fashion colours!
