Checking the best way to redye...

Hi all

I posted a while ago as I couldn't get bright colours to stay in my hair.  I switched to Directions and got far better colour results.

I'm now due a haircut and have significant root growth, so want to remove the colour I have now and use different colours in different places to before.

I used Colour B4 to remove the blue, wine and black colours I had, to get back to the previously bleached yellow. After one use of CB4 my hair was green,I did another treatment of it and it's still green, so I haven't tried a third since it seems it won't come out. Having moisturised it with a deep conditioner it seems ok condition wise, I will wash and condition it again tomorrow to get some condition back into it and also try to get rid of the horrible rotten eggs smell of CB4.

Having read various posts on here I have formulated a Plan (mainly thanks to Piscine!):

Wash and deep condition my hair a couple of times before having it cut, to get condition back into the hair and make sure the CB4 is out fully.
Have my hair cut on Saturday as planned.
Use a red shade to neutralise the green (fabulous idea Piscine to use a photo of the hair to colour reverse it!)
Apply coconut oil 1 hour before bleaching - hopefully just the roots not the whole head if the above works.
Dye the colours I want.

Does this sound like a good Plan please?

Thanks in advance!
Debbie

I think the red shade is redundant because it will bleach straight out. However the rest of your plan sounds good!

Yep, not worth doing the red. It will tone your hair to brown, not blonde or yellow. Unless the green is super pale. If that's the case, use diluted pink not red.

Thank you both Marthakins and Janineb for your help with this.

When I bleach the ends then should I bleach the whole head please?

Loooove your hair colour combo! That's more like I want it to be πŸ™‚ My hair is also very short. Still learning how to best apply it.

Ah, I can't take credit for the negative idea but agree it's pretty brilliant. πŸ˜€ Have you tried any other methods to fade your color? There are some posted here:

It's best to try to the non-damaging fading methods before resorting to bleach. Absolute worst case scenario, I'd say do a bleach bath and definitely not a straight bleach. If you get your color faded to a pastel green your dye should cover fine; always do a strand test ahead of time to be sure. Glad I've been able to help. πŸ™‚
