Hi guys, hopefully I've posted this in the right place!
My hair is currently brightish red and I want to change to maybe purple or blue. My hair is naturally very dark brown but has been dyed quite a lot. I used a hi lift red with 30 vol developer & I now want to change colour, I presume if I colour b4'd my hair my roots (got about 3/4 inch growth at the mo) would be a lot darker than the lengths? So my question is, will I have to bleach my roots? Because I've never actually bleached my lengths just used a hi lift!

Yes, colour remover, then bleach the roots is what i would do. You will need a light blonde base for blue, so you may also need to lightly bleach the lengths, depending on how light they are after the hi-lift. (If you used it repeatedly with 30 vol they are likely to be quite blonde once the red is out)

Ah crap! I have a terrible fear of bleaching my hair! Thanks for the advice though 🙂

See how light your hair is after the colour remover. Leave your roots if you don't want to bleach them. If you are using hi-lift dyes you have already been bleaching your hair, they are the strongest and most damaging products on the market
