Hi everyone,
Following my recent posts on here about changing my hair colour I decided rather than try and bleach/highlight myself I would let my hairdresser do it as I was worried about messing it up. I asked her for reasonably wide highlights and also lighter tips on the ends of my hair.
I have spent 3 hours plus in the salon (and a considerable amount of money) and the highlights are pretty much invisible, I thought so in the salon but convinced myself it was the lighting, and I don't have it in me to complain, esp..when I have to go past the salon to the local shop and the salon staff all know me but when I got home my husband said "I thought you were getting highlights!" I am SOOOO disappointed esp..as I have done a much better job of highlights myself in the past. It just looks like an all-over solid colour apart from a bit underneath, the rest is about a level 7 golden brown (the "between colour" I think she called that!)
How soon can I do highlights myself without damaging the hair?
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I would follow the same rule as when you bleach your hair, waiting at least a month between highlights, and babying your hair from now until then. I can't remember when I use to highlight my hair how long I waited, but I think it was probably 6-8 weeks, but I let them really grow out before retouching, but I think you can do 4 weeks, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks Emmer
Wish I'd never gone! So much for trusting the professionals, I even went in twice before the appointment to discuss it with them and take in pictures, I might as well have just bought a box dye from Boots!
Oh well, four weeks to wait then. :-[
yea its so disappointing when you go to someone that should be a professional and you end up without the desired result. I stopped going to salons years ago, I bleach and dye my own hair and I only let my mom cut my hair.
Yes, I wouldn't mind if she hadn't done EVERYTHING wrong, it's almost as if she went out of her way to give me the exact opposite of everything I asked her to do, even the cut was rubbish!
