Hi,
After going a deep red and not really liking it I used colour before to get most of it out but then went to the hairdressers too early to have highlights and it reoxidised quite bad and the highlights only really took to the underneath of my hair.
I had another go with colour b4 and waited a few weeks before using the loreal 'bronde' kit last night. It's not too bad but I still have reddy/orange tones that I would like to tone down.
Does anyone have any suggests if it would work? What I could use?
Would mixing a blue dye (directions) with conditioner work? Or turn my lighter bits blue?
Thank you π
It looks more reddy in real life btw!
You can definitely try toning, but it will make the lightest parts white or silver looking, which may make the darker parts look warmer by contrast.
Try purple shampoo/conditioner such as Touch of Silver, if you apply to dry hair you can make sure the darker parts are really covered. Leave it on for half an hour or so.
If you want to mix your own, Neon Blue is a good blue (purple based) for mixing toners, you may need to get a pink as well to make your perfect shade, there is a lot of trial and error with this type of toning. Start out with a weak mix, you can always build up over time, and don't skip the strand tests

Just being nosey. What brand is neon blue sorry?
I was referring to Directions Neon blue, as the OP specifically mentioned that brand.
Well after two days it seems to have re-oxidised again and looks a lot darker! I used colour b4 about 3 weeks ago, thought it would have been long enough.
Not sure any toner will knock the reddy tones out of my hair now.
Give it another go with Decolour Remover this time (not Decolour Stripper!) as it claims to shatter the dye molecules rather than just shrink them, meaning there's a decreased chance of it re-oxidising. Rinsing is still just as important though.
Go get a box marked with a:9.0/9.1/9N/9A these are ash shades which will get rid of the golden/copper.9,0
+9N are natural meaning they are a balanced mix of RYB pigments resulting in natural ash 9.1+9A are the same but with more ash control in them either or will be fine.
