Bleaching dreadlocks

So I have been trying to get my dreadlocks at least a nice light blonde, although it's harder than I would have thought >.<
I have bleached twice and bleach bathed once AND used a light blonde lifting tint (l'oreal majiblond ultra 901s) I have also been washing it with an all natural ingrediant toner from Lush.
I have attatched a photo showing the current colour.
Would it be worthwhile putting a toner hair dye in yet or should I maybe go for another bleach bath?
The dreads underneath are a little darker so I would be leaving it on them for longer.
Anyone got any tips?

Love the multi-tone dreads! This may be part advice part dread worship...

You've done well to get them that light so far without them going crispy-I've some dreads at the back of mine (I'm white blonde/silver including the dreads!) and I find I have to be pretty careful with them where bleach is involved.

If you're planning to go lighter I'd steer away from the box dyes and bleach bath them-I've found my dreads take a lot faster than the rest of my hair. Slow is better, the last thing you want is bits snapping off. I also slather them in coconut oil as suggested on another thread in here-I know all the arguments for not washing/conditioning/oiling dreads but if you've coated them in bleach they're going to need a good washing afterwards anyway right? If anything mine feel tighter and smoother afterwards. Some people may be of a different opinion but I would definitely suggest is conditioning the hell out of their roots when you've been at the bleach-the last thing you want is breakage there as your dreads will get skinny and again you may lose a couple.

As for toning them, are you happy with how light they are now? If not, maybe hold off the toner, although it would condition them nicely... Question back-how are you finding their condition is holding up to the bleaching?

^^^ Agreed.

Definitely take it slow. My dreads are about the same thickness as yours and the trouble I find is that the inner section of the dread which doesn't get bleached eventually works it's way outwards and darkens my bleached sections. I bleach my hair at the roots for the most part but at the ends, which I dye yellow, they often need re-bleaching but as the ends of your hair are delicate I only do this 2-3 times a year if that. If you're doing that well with bleach bathing and you want your hair paler then keep up what you're doing, it seems to be working well. I may try a bleach bath on the ends of mine next time as they're due for another re-bleach.

As for condition make sure you use dread wax. It's the closest thing to a conditioner that a dread head can have! When I wash my hair I leave it 24hrs then rub with dread wax to keep the hair tight and to stop them getting fragile.

If you want to even out the colour then just bleach bath at the ends where they're darker, that's all I do. Only I use full strength bleach because I'm impatient and so far my dreads haven't complained about it. I think your method is far more sensible and I can't wait to see what you finally do with your hair!

They are holding up fine, I gave them another two bleach baths and they are refusing to go any lighter, but I toned them and they are a lot less yellow. I didnt have any trouble with condition, I threw on some aloe vera gel stuff, just pure stuff. You can get it in like healthy lifestyle shops. It works a treat ! Thanks for all the advice guys 😀

Completely off topic, but soon to be joined by another one!  Only two and a half weeks to go until my appointment to be dreaded up!

Woohoo! Welcome to the club... Well sort of.

I've had dreads for four years and I will Never get rid of them. I swear I'm going to be a dread head grandma in my old age, I love my dreadies. I've been dyeing them wild colours for well over a year now and I know most of the pro's and con's that go with having dreads. So if anyone has any dread questions please feel free to ask. Also if anyone has dread advice please give it! No such thing as "knowing it all".
