Hi all.
Still new to bleaching/ maintaining my own hair. Hairdressers got to expensive for results I was not pleased with.
Anyways, I have lovely silver hair and my roots are pretty grown out so they needed to be bleached! Bleached with powder and 20Vol. Lifted to light yellow, but toner wouldn't take. Yesterday I bleached bathed and toned again, with still the same results. Dry, it's a very light blonde, like corn silk.
Bleach was applied to dry and product free hair, but I used coconut oil for both bleach and bleach bath.
P.S, I'm in Aus, no Sally's here.
Also, my photo refuses to upload. -_-
What kind of toner are you using?
Fanola in silver. It was recommended to me by a hairdresser.
Is that an oxidative toner? If so your hair has been processed a lot so I would be careful with it and baby it a bit now.
You can mix toner using a tiny bit of purple semi permanent dye with conditioner which will tone the yellow out of your hair.
Yes, I believe so.
I had a deep condition today with plans to slather it in coconut oil while I bake tomorrow. π
How long should I wait before giving the toner/ purple a go, and should I also be using a developer with this mix? Sorry for the noob questions. :/
Nope, semi permanent dye is deposit only so it's non damaging, you don't need developer. For now I would avoid anything with developer as it will damage your hair further.
You basically just get a semi permanent dye such as directions violet and mix it with a cheap silicone free conditioner to make a non damaging toner, as purple tones out yellow. You can do it straight away as it is non damaging.
There's a thread on making white toner here which you might find useful:

I'll have a sticky beak at that. Thank you for all your help. π
You're welcome π
Also I've just realised how many times I said non damaging in that reply, not the best writing skills :p
I'm not judging. π
A little little off topic, but could you you suggest a good ombre tutorial? If this doesn't work I might try for pastel pink/ silver.
Ta. π
