Hi, I'm new to the forum so I'm super sorry if I don't post correctly even though I read all of the rules. ;D
Here's my problem:
I have naturally medium to dark brown hair. In October, I dyed it with a Clairol Natural Instincts semi-permanent black dye, and then once that washed out I dyed it again in December. A good while later once I felt it had mostly washed out I tried to bleach the ends. This did next to nothing, as it still just had too much dye in it. I waited several more weeks and then bleached it again with a Loreal Absolute Platinum bleach. This time the ends turned a dark blonde/ginger color. I'm wanting to have my ends a very light platinum so I can eventually go over it with a dusty blue shade. I know this is a terrible idea and my hair will no doubt end up very straw-like, but I have very long hair and am planning to cut that part off at some point anyway, so I don't really care if it's damaged, but I would still like it to look as nice as possible. What I need to know is what bleach I should now use on my ends to get the platinum color. The Loreal bleach I last used said not to use it on already-bleached hair.
It's possible that the ends of your hair could be stained from the black dye, even semi permanent black can be hard to remove enough to get your hair to platinum. You could try a colour remover such as colour b4 but it may not work if you have already bleached over the stained part as bleaching can drive colour further into your hair. Obviously I'm not sure that it's staining as I don't know how well your hair would usually take to bleaching but it could be something to consider if there is a lot of ginger that you can't seem to get past.
Just to add about your intention to cut off any damage eventually, damage travels up the hair shaft so any badly damaged ends should be cut off sooner rather than later to avoid the damage going further up your hair.
