Hi everyone, first post.
So Basically I started off with dark almost black hair. I used colour b4 extra strength then adee phelan for dark hair.
This brought my hair to browny red. (hair is naturally light ginger) I left it a few days then lightened it with XXL 00b max blonde after sleeping with my hair covered in coconut oil brought it to a medium/light orange with yellow roots. After that, I used coconut oil then jerome russell 30 vol which lightened it a small bit to a lighter orange with a few blondish streaks. I slept with coconut oil on my hair then used the jerome Russell 30 vol again, which seems to have done almost nothing.
Questions:
Is the coconut oil interfering? I'm not exceeding 45 minutes developing time, should I? I start counting the minutes from when I start putting on the bleach, is this wrong? Is my hair too porous to bleach, should I leave it a good while longer?
I know I shouldn't be bleaching so much so often but my hair doesn't seem to be damaged at all using the oil. Also, I don't want to go to a salon, they never do what I want. I want a bright white blonde.
Thank you so much for reading, I really appreciate any advice π
Is the darker orange the part that was dyed darker previously? If so i would go with another colour remover (yes they do still work on bleached hair lol)
Really? It is fairly light all over.

This is me suitably distressed and a picture of the hair.
I'm just wondering if it is worth waiting a few days and bleaching again in a few days. I have literally no dryness or split ends so far... Just worried because the colour remover did dry it out but the bleach didn't. It is lifting, but very slowly probably due to the oil? I don't want to risk skipping the oil. π thank you for your reply.
I don't think the coconut oil is interfering, but is it pure coconut oil, food grade rather than the hydrogenated type sold for hair?
If the colour removers didn't take your hair back to a similar or lighter shade than when you applied it, there is still dye in your hair. It is extremely difficult to bleach out dark hair dye, especially if has been applied several times, and it typically goes very orange like yours.
I would definitely try another colour remover if it were my hair. If cost is an issue i have had great results with the cheaper colour removers. I can get Prokoke colour remover for just Β£1.99 in my local Family Bargains; B&Ms, Savers, Home Bargains all stock either JoBazz or Provoke at a fraction of the price of the big name brands.
I feel I should point out that the damage from bleaching takes about a month to show up, which is why waiting a month between bleaching is recommended. If you keep bleaching before you have seen the full extent of the damage from the last session you are playing Russian roulette with your hair. Make sure you use a reconstructor and deep condition whatever you decide to do.
It is organic virgin coconut oil from a health food store
store. If you think it is worth a go I will try the Adee Phelan stuff again. I last bleached my hair this morning, should I wait or use it fairly soon? Thank you so much for all the advice. ^_^
You need to leave at least a month between bleaching. You can use the colour remover now.
Also, even if it's the wrong kind of coconut oil it's not going to block the bleach.
You can use the colour remover straight away as long as you aren't putting it on your scalp. It is best to wait a week afterwards before any further bleaching or you risk re-oxidation and it going dark again.

Is this so that the next bleaching will lift properly, or is this to do with hair condition? Thanks for the reply.

Cool, I might try this then leave it ages then bleach it again. Have you tried this before in my situation? If so what possible colour should the hair turn after the colour remover? Thank you π
Also I'm a bit worried, if I use colour remover on freshly bleached hair, will this make it oxidise, or is that only the case if it is vice versa?
Moderator combined posts. Please use the modify post button rather than double or triple posting.
Sorry, I was trying to edit to add you can use the colour removed now to my previous post, but I was on the London Underground and went underground before I could!
It's impossible to say if the bleach will lift it though.
That's okay, Janine π So it definitely won't oxidise the way it would vice versa?
No, it won't reoxidise anything, that's not how it works π only bleach (rather peroxide) can reoxidise the molecules after using a colour remover. Never the other way. We wouldn't advise it other wise π
Only the other way round as far as I know. I have used colour removers straight after bleach several times an d never had it reoxidise.
Oh, oops. My knowledge of these things only reach a certain extent, hehe. Thank you so much, I'll try that tomorrow. Should that lift some of the orange straight away if it is the dye that's causing it?
Yes, if the orange is the remnants of the dye it should take it out.
Thanks Wicked Pixie you were very helpful π
