my hair is bleached blonde light golden blonde and length is to my shoulder blades (long). probably like this girl's hair (yes somewhat brassy but I can counter it with purple conditioner or Roux white minx)
my natural color is level 2/3 (med/dk brown). i'm tired of bleaching so now I want to go for a dark blonde similar to .
my idea is to get a high lift ash blonde and do my roots when they grow in about 1/2 inch. Then get a semi permanent dark golden or neutral blonde to cover the length. I know that I bleached a lot of red out so I need to put some back into the bleached areas. and my roots will naturally pull lots of red hence getting an ash color for the root area. Also, I'm thinking that since my roots will process with the warmth of my head a 20 volume will probably lift just fine but should I instead use 30?
need help - want it to match as best as possible.
You are unlikely to get a nice blonde on dark brown hair with a box dye, even a hi-lift one. I would stick to bleaching and then add a diluted semi to tone. I have been using diluted adore browns recently to create natural blonde shades, Medium brown and Mocha as my base colours then tweaking with violet/blue or whatever is needed.
The only blonde true semis I have had any success with are wella colour Fresh, but the adore mix lasts much better.
in the pic dark blonde . is kind of a brown looking color. i'm fairly certain i've come close to this before but always just my roots got light enough because they have the heat from head helping. i just want that 'peroxide' look or orangey hair.
http://www.clairolpro.com/hair-color-professional/grey I'm trying to go from a level 2/3 to 6 which is only 4 levels. I'm thinking a high lift dye goes up 1 level then if I get a 20 (maybe 30) volume I get the other 3 levels needed. thoughts?
Neither of your links take me to a pic of the colour you want.
You will get a lot of red/orange using a dye to lighten dark brown hair. The hair won't be light enough for any ash shades to show.
ok hoping this link works it's angelina jolie. the ends are lighter than the top.
what's the lightest you think i could go with a dye and should I use 30 peroxide? I'm so tired of double processing. I never intended to be such a light blonde but since I have to Bleach it past the orange brassy stage I decided to stay light but now I want to stop double processing.
30 vol will give you maximum lift, but will also be the most damaging. Don't be fooled into thinking blonde dyes are less damaging than bleach, because the process that lightens the hair is exactly the same, it is just slightly different chemicals.
I still think a light bleach or bleach bath will be safer and more predictable in terms of lift. You can then tone with a non damaging toner.
You will always get warm tones when lightening dark hair, no matter what products you use.
If you definitely want to use a dye i can only suggest testing on an inconspicuous area first and then trying to match the lengths to that colour. Some lines carry dyes that can be used as permanent dyes with a strong vol peroxide, and as a deposit only with a very low vol (less than 10 vol) so in theory you could use the same product all over just with different peroxide.
In practice, adding natural colour back to bleached hair is never that simple lol.
