HELP please!
Bleach bath not too successful :o(.
I used 50ml 12% peroxide, 50ml powder, 75ml shampoo n 25ml water. Applied and covered for an hour. First ever home bleaching attempt, unfortunately hardly any lift.
What did I do wrong and is there anything I can do further this weekend to get it to a pale blonde?
Resulting colour at present is orange and a little dry on the ends.

Bleach bathing is designed to lift only half a shade to a shade at a time. This is why it's much gentler on hair and you can do it once a week instead of once a month. I would not bleach bathe again for at least a week.
Also, are you trying to lift natural hair or already dyed hair? Dyed hair is harder to lift than natural hair.
Hi, thanks for reply.
I'm trying to go from dyed dark brown (top layer) to silvery grey my natural colour which I then want to rinse either silvery blue or silvery lilac. I figure it'll be easier and cheaper than fortnightly roots dyed!
Had hoped I could of plastered with coconut oil tonight and then do a weaker bleach 9% tomorrow to try and even it up for work Monday!
New to the world of bleach and doing it myself, so appreciate the guidance :o)
Ah, I would have advised a colour stripper before bleach bathing to have the lightest base possible to start from since you had a dye on it. You can still try it (not damaging, though it is drying), some people have had results using colour strippers after bleach.
The key when going from dark to light is to take it slow and have realistic expectations--it will probably take a few months to go through all the orange and darker blonde stages, but you will get there in the end.
Ok, :o/ may have to wear a hat to work, lol what with all the multi colour going on!
I did use Jo Bazz remover x3 last weekend to get it from dark brown to coppery brown.
Bought some coconut oil today in readiness for further bleaching after reading all the posts.
I looked at the Colour B4 stripper but wasn't too sure, as I said I'm a total novice to home bleaching. Will look again.
Will keep plodding on then, just worried about what work will sag, but hey ho!
Thanks for the advice. :o)
Completely torn between a bleach bath and the Scott Cornwall stripper ::)
Dark brown at the moment having used Colour B4 to shift a semi-permanent black. Looking to lighten my hair to a coppery gingery colour before applying Directions Rubine. Any advice would be muchly appreciated.
How many times did you use Colour B4? A lot of people have had even more drastic results with Scott Cornwall's Recolour Remover, so perhaps try that? You can use colour removers up to three times before they've done all they're going to do, and they're safe to allow to process for up to an hour. You might not even need a peroxide based treatment like the stripper or a bleach bath.
Just the once. I'm a bit wary of using it multiple times, I've ended up with some interesting mismatched results before! I have been reading good things about the remover here though. Will give it a shot and go from there. Thanks for the help.
ok, so I did my first bleach bath today. had coconut oil on my hair all night. the bleach barely even touched my hair. The only part that is lighter is the roots and maybe 2-3 inches. Im guessing this is because of the black dye that ive had on my head for a while?I didnt think it would need color remover since last time i dyed my hair was 4-6 months ago and it was a demipermanent. 🙁 at least my hair still feels fine, no damage. When I do this again next week im planning on dye removing my whole head 2 days before. wash it like a maniac, repeat dye bath procedure. Can I get away with less shampoo? I used 2oz bleach powder,2oz of 30developer, 4 oz of shampoo. I have kpak coming in the mail soon. for between baths. I realize this is going to be a sublte lift, but seriously, no diffierence at all on the middle and ends? fail.
Sorry this is so long but i'm dissapointed with the results(or lack thereof).
Also, any tips for making this easier? Its quite messy with waist-length hair. I'm going to have the bf help next week.
Black dye is very, very difficult to lift out, and the more black that has built up, the more difficult it will be to lift. A remover is a good place to start, then you can get lift with what's left. My SIL had years of black and used Colour B4 first, then bleach bathed regularly. After a few months she ended up blonde.
My hair is about level 8 with a pink tint to it. I want to use a bleach bath for minimal damage, but I want it to be light enough base for a blue color. Will it lift it to be light enough?
What sort of blue are you going for? You might not even need to bleach bathe, to be honest--most blues take well over faded pinks and medium to pale blonde.
this is probs a silly question but when you say 2 parts shampoo does this mean twice the amount of the bleach mix? also can you use any kind of shampoo? (i don't have alot of clarifying left)

Yes, here's an example.
1 part bleach powder (check your directions, mine calls for 24g to 35ml developer)
1 part developer (35ml)
2 parts shampoo (70ml)
I don't know about using something other than a clarifying shampoo, though. Maybe someone else will be able to help with that.
