guys can i just quickly ask, if i want to bleach bath every week or so, is it best just to not wash my hair at all, until the next bleach bath? to get my hair as oily as possible? and of course use coconut oil.
Is it possible to bleach bath with a purple shampoo in it or would I have to put it after the BB?
You can bb with purple shampoo but it doesnt really male any difference from what ive heard from others so you just end up wasting decent shampoo π so save it for after
Ok thanks π

That would be the ideal really. I think that's what I'd do.

ah great, thanks for the reply π
Do you think this would work with a 3-part home box bleach? The developer+cream+powder kind?
I am not looking for blonde, just to severely tone down this ridiculous red I stupidly slathered all over my hair (I look like Ronald McDonald!)
If you're trying to tone down red, why not put a brown or a mahogany over it?
Okay I have literally read through this whole thread ahah.
I am really bad at bleaching all my roots properly. I always leave little tiny patches of virgin hair and/or I end up with a banding effect and it generally looks bad unless I put a dark enough veggie dye over the top to hide it away.
I haven't read anything here about using a bleach bath to correct this but has anyone done it??? Any advice?
I bleached all my roots about a week ago so should I wait a month before a bleach bath?
Also! How does everyone get perfect results when bleaching their roots?!?
Thank youuu
Hi, I just came across this awesome tutorial and have a couple of questions. I've been dying my hair black for the last 5 years and now I want to go bright red. I'm planning to bleach bath it, because although there is a lot of colour build up, my hair doesn't seem to retain the black very well. Once I hit the 6 week since dye mark, it's already fading into a reddish brown colour. It's now been at least 2 months since I last dyed it and I'm thinking that I should be able to bleach bath it once or twice to get it to a dark orangey colour that I can go over with the red. Is this feasible?
Also, is it better to apply the bleach bath to damp or dry hair? And does it help to wash the hair with a 'stripping' shampoo, like Head & Shoulders, before bleach bathing to remove more of the previous colour? Any help very much appreciated! π
i wouldnt put a red ontop of the orangy bleach colour this is the trouble im having now it fades horrible and then the orange peaks thru to say hello and i have no idia how to get the red out and the orange as im wanting to go white x
Orange is the best base for red.

It's totally fine as long as you use a pink based red--the pink cancels out the orange.
I dyed my bleached hair (ended up ginger) atomic pink 2.5 weeks ago and now it's looking more red than pink. I tried purple shampoo twice and it didn't work. Can I bleach bath now it to try and make it more pink? It's in decent condition, I've k-pak'ed it and deep conditioned it several times along with some 100% argan oil. I'm willing to do another application of a.p. after.
When did you last bleach?
Purple shampoo won't do anything to red tones; it just neutralises yellow.
We've heard a lot of people say that the latest batch of AP seems more red than pink; you can try a bleach bath when it's been a month since your last bleach and see if it lifts it at all. It might also be appearing a bit redder because it might be picking up the orange underneath--it depends on how ginger you were (dark ginger or medium). Atomic pink sticks like glue, though, so you might just be stuck with the colour.
The color is about a medium ginger, I guess. I bleached it exactly 3 weeks ago so maybe I'll do a bleach bath 2 weeks from now. I'm willing to take it slowly, BB every 1 or 2 weeks so I have time to really keep it moisturized and as healthy as possible.
Well darn... I can't post pics yet. π
