Also, your roots process quicker, I find I only need 20 vol bleach on my roots to get them light while I'd need much higher vol. on my lengths, so in theory a bb with the heat from your head might get it light enough (and if not, as Imtempestivity said, you only need to leave it a week)

Hi. So i just went from red to blonde. My hair is damaged now. And almost at bleach blonde. Can i do a bleach bath to get it there?

If your hair is damaged, no peroxide should touch it--like I said when you first started talking about going red to blonde and mentioned your hair won't hold colour (this is a sign that it's majorly damaged).

Instead, you need to follow the advice in this thread.

Doing my first bleach bath now! I had to make up two batches (I'm far too cautious when bleaching) and I don't think the second lot was as exact as the first! I may get an uneven bleaching but oh well 🙂 I'll just have to wear a hat until I can do it again!

EDIT: It is slightly uneven, especially at the back! I'll get my friend to help me with the next bleach bath. The front has gone so much lighter and the pink has finally gone!

Thanks Pippa! I've never bleached before or done hair colour at home and would probably have pink fried hair right now if I hadn't found this forum  *loveeyes*. A hairdresser friend is coming to help me. No one here Bleach Bathes or uses coconut oil or things like that. She thinks I'm crazy but is willing to help. She's gonna either freak out or laugh her bum off when she comes and finds me all oiled up.
I have to teach a class in the night so hopefully my hair is looking ok by then, I'll update with results at some point today.

haha, it's dance class so no hat for me. But hey, I can alway whip out the "bad hair day bun and scarf combo" if needed. The expectation is killing me. I'll go bother my dog now to kill the time till BB.

Oh no! Last minute total newbie question  (probably really silly -sorry!: what do I do after the bleach bath??? Rinse it off, shampoo, deep condition, all of the above? No idea!!!  😮

All of the above unless you're planning on colouring it with an unnatural colour directly afterwards, then you don't need to condition your hair as the dye won't take as well. Good luck!

thanks! the results are in!

So, apparently my virgin hair lifts extremely easily (lifted like 5-6 levels in 40 mins. with BB) so my roots are pretty much crazy bright yellow doing a weird revere ombre thing while my lengths are pretty much dark gingerish brown... it's not what I expected but I'll take it for a couple weeks till I BB again. My friend was so impressed with the coconut oil results! Thanks you all, I'll keep ya posted on my journey to platinum 😀

Try toning your roots and see how light they go 😀

Don't think I did this right... I have a soapy mixture with blue lumps of bleach (used BBlonde). Mixed it loads but didn't change, just had to scoop it up in my gloves and lather it on =s Using the brush didn't seem to be catching the bleach.

EDIT: Just went back into the bathroom to wash my hand after my hair dripped on it and the mixture seems to have settled into a more managable consistancy and looks more like the photos on the first post. Phew.
