my advice is to post in a jobaz/colour b4 thread and trawl the internet to find out about animal testing because if they work on your hair it is great:) they dont always work with all semis though.

there is a thread on fading here > http://www.hairdyeforum.com/index.php?topic=1704.0

have a good read through this http://www.hairdyeforum.com/index.php?topic=995.0
before you BB but yeah you're right. you can wear the coconut oil for anything from an hour up before you dye. overnight is best πŸ™‚ but remember in that case a good conditioner after the dye.

Virgin Rose is suuuper hard to get rid of, but fade it and it'll be pink anyway. Take a look in the fading techniques thread in this part of the forum, lots of us have had success with vitamin c tablets or bicarbonate of soda. You'd have to get as much blue out as possible to put orange over or you could get sludge colour. If you use a rich enough orange though you should have less problems.

The rest all sounds about right. πŸ™‚

Sorry for the stupidity guys but want my bleach bath to work this time lol. Where it says 2 parts shampoo what does it actually mean? I am guessing if I did 50ml peroxide and 50ml developer then I would mix with 200 no shampoo? I feel so silly hahaha x

From page 7 on this thread:

To visualise:

If you have 100ml of bleach and you are applying to damp hair, use 200ml of shampoo.

If you have 100ml of bleach and you are applying to dry hair, use 150ml of shampoo and 50ml of water.

I have the generic form of Matrix Biolage shampoo, is it okay to use that with a bleach bath? I love the shampoo and don't really want to buy a bottle of clarifying shampoo if I'm not sure I like it. I could buy a small bottle though if it's necessary.

you don;t need to buy expensive shampoo don't worry. i just get the cheapest clarifying one in the supermarket and if theres none on offer i just use a basic plain shampoo that i wouldn't normally use for washing.

Thanks! I may do that next time I need to do my roots. I feel like I would have more even coverage and also be able to give my hair a boost every few months so it doesn't get brassy.

just use bleach bathing for your roots. to avoid brassy-ness use a silver shampoo or a toner of your choice, no need to cause extra damage πŸ™‚

I've tried Clairol Shimmer Lights in the past and it didn't do a thing. But I only left it on for 5 mins. I am going to try leaving it on for 10 or 15, it's not dangerous to do so, right? I've also tried Manic Panic Virgin Snow which also didn't work. I'm not looking to go platinum, just keep my blonde looking blonde instead of yellow.

i like to sometimes put the shampoo on damp hair and not later it too much leaving it for about 10 minutes or else use a semi purple dye mixed with conditioner as a mask. the worst that can happen if you leave it too long is a lilac tinge that washes out quite quickly

I've wondered this for a while. When bleach bathing, if you have (for example) mid-brown roots, won't the BB just turn the roots orange? My natural hair colour is mid-brown and I want to get my hair an even colour all over so I can successfully have green hair over Xmas and I was just wondering, if BB only lifts hair a couple of shades, won't the roots be darker than my already-bleached hair?

I just did this with some Directions lilac, worked really well and my hair probably feels nicer than if I'd left shampoo on for 20 minutes.

Yes, but it's only for a couple of weeks until you can BB again.
