A little hair history first, I've been dying my hair myself since I was 13, I'm 24 now. Ive been every color you can imagine but about 6 years ago I went totally bleach blonde. 3 processes back to back! (I know, I even got halfway thru hair school and new it was a horrible idea) I ended up having to cut mid back length hair above my shoulders. I then switched to very vibrant reds and kept that until about 10 months ago when I went chocolate brown which ended up a bit darker than intended. I start nursing school soon so I would like to try a normal color for once but I want light!
I currently have a bleach blonde/yellow perimeter around my head and the rest is a medium reddish brown and about an inch of regrowth which lifts easily. I got the reddish brown by using a color remover (only just learned of those on here) One n Only Colorfix from Sally's. It lightened my hair from very dark brown to what the first picture shows. I've used it twice and its been kind to my hair, no damage! I would never be able to get even this light from bleach without a nice fry job! The bleached area I have was kind of a test to see how light I could get with bleach and what damage it would cause.
So now I'm not sure if I should try a bleach bath (I'd rather not do full bleach by myself) or should I do another round of the dye remover? I'm including a few pictures of the blondes I like, not too light because my skin practically glows red with platinum or yellow looking blondes. I'm fair skinned but easily tan
Definitely continue with the colour remover.
Bleaching your roots that light was a bad move, you will struggle to get an even base now. Even with patience you are unlikely to get your lengths anywhere near as light. Some orange staining is very likely, and staining is truly permanent.
You should be able to get a medium/dark neutral blonde, you may have to settle for a light brown if you want it as ashy as the pics.
Luckily I only have a small portion of my hair that blonde. I wasn't sure what I was wanting to end up with when I did that so now I guess I kind of have deal with it. But the lengths that I bleached before the dye remover have turned a decent golden/beige blonde. The color remover took the orangey and yellow tones out for the most part! I was kind of thinking of the lighter purples that are so popular but I'm pretty sure I have to be able to get to platinum which would kill my hair with the staining I have, this is why I'm aiming for a dark blonde now but hoping for at least a light brown.
