Black to copper/auburn

Right, I'm frustrated.

I dyed my hair black, only used 2 box dyes over the 5/6 months it's been black, hardly touched heat (not had time!) and I've been topping up with directions ebony. Last night I did a remover and was pretty pleased, this morning I've woken up and it seems to have gone dark again? I have another one to do but will it just go dark again?

The first photo is what it did last night, second was this morning and the other 2 are my aims, I'd be happy with either!

I would try again but this time rinse for longer, making sure you use your fingers to comb through a lot. Use all the bottle of buffer and when it says leave for a minute, i usually leave it a little longer. So far i havent had reoxidation problems by doing all that and i had to get rid of 5 years of black dye buildup. Got rid of it using 3boxes of color b4 extra strength.

Can I leave the remover in for longer as well? I washed it out after the 30 mins but if I can leave it longer I will πŸ™‚ thanks

I always leave it in for an hour. I have never had re-oxidation issues, but there is a thread on it. Drying your hair midway through the rinsing process can help. You can also check if you have rinsed enough by putting some peroxide on a strand, it will darken instantly if the colour molecules are still present, so you will need to rinse more.

An hour? And that won't cripple my hair? I could potentially grow 6 inches by the wedding and I currently have no damage according to a hairdresser so I'm kind of rooting for this lol

The instructions on the 'extra strength' versions all say an hour, i have a sneaky feeling the formulas are the same but the processing time is different....
Remember that colour removers don't cause damage (as in the don't alter the structure of the hair) they just make it dry. So if your hair is in good condition and you are gentle with it after the colour remover and use a good conditioner to restore the lost moisture you should be fine. The only time i have seen damage after a colour remover was on hair that was already at the end of its tether, so it couldn't handle being dried out without getting brittle and breaking.

Yeah my hair felt amazing last night and that was just with my regular conditioner, so I'm pretty confident my hairs good πŸ™‚ I did get extra strength but they only had the provoke colour remover so I picked that up - barely any smell! I'll leave it in for an hour, surely the worst the can happen is I need a stronger conditioner after? Thanks! I'm hoping my hair will be a fairly auburn colour after this anyway, if not I'm gonna have a look at adore. I'm excited!

Oh also, the drying my hair mid way through bit, should I do that before I put the first lot of buffer on? Or put the first lot in, leave 5 mins, rinse, dry, then the next lot?

Search for the thread, I have never had to do it myself so I am not certain of the order.
I really like the Provoke colour remover, less smelly than Colour B4 and less drying than JoBazz IME plus it is really cheap lol.

I was impatient and just cracked on with it, dried it after the first buffer and this is all I got. Boo.
