Morning all...

So I have finally managed to get my hair to blonde but also per usual I have lovely pale roots and the ends are brassy as chuff!

I have bought some Fudge Violet shampoo which is supposed to be amazing.......(it's not arrived yet) but I have heard wonderful things about wella charm toners.

I have some 20 vol developer but not sure if I should go for T18 or T14 or if my hair is even light enough to tone. I think it's either a level 8 or 9 right now but does have those pesky  yellow/ red undertones.

You can see the sides of my head  are very brassy  and my ponytail.......but any advice would be awesome x

Scuse the derpy face......so full of cold at the mo!

I wouldn't bother with the toners, because you have to mix them with developer they cause damage which makes your hair increasingly porous with each use and that in turn makes them fade faster each time! You are probably better sticking to your violet shampoo.

If you find you are still struggling you can make toners by adding a small amount of direct dye into conditioner; blue to counteract orange tones, violet to counteract yellow.

Ps) I enjoyed your username and topic title - puntastic!!

I agree, I've done the wella toners and they look good for about 2 weeks then they fade and you end up having to re do them every 2-3 weeks which is a load of damage to your hair, and especially if you are bleaching your hair to get it to that color blonde, you don't want to add any more damage! The only reason the Wella tonors have so many good reviews is because every beauty guru on youtube using them once and so everyone who watches thinks they are fantastic, but in reality they are damaging, it drives me crazy!

Lauralei has good advice, either wait for the purple shampoo or just use direct dyes in white conditioner, your hair will thank you down the road!

Thank you ladies and you are so right!!!!!

I had a read of a few posts about toning and there was one about making your own toner

Low and behold in my cupboard of half used dyes was a Pravana Violet, mixed a teeny bit into an empty directions pot with some 3 minute miracle and boom.

I am actually amazes at how much lighter and how much of the orange tone has gone.  You can only tell if I hold the ends next to the roots.

I will just plop this on every few days.....it's going to save me a fortune. Wish I hadn't bothered with the Fudge Violet shampoo now.

Will post a pic in a bit x
