A question about applying Decolour

Colour remover won't damage your hair, so you can leave it on for longer, although i'm not sure how much more it will work after the time it says to leave it on for, I don't know if it stops working. It will dry your hair a bit though so I would condition it a lot afterwards.

It's fine to use a colour without peroxide or a toner such as in violet shampoo straight after colour removers 🙂

Great.  I left it an hour, just waiting for the final stage to complete.  It will still need another box I think but at least I know I can use a toner now.  I hate the warmth.

Definitely not worth leaving it on for longer than an hour, it does stop working eventually.

Well using both the treatment and the toner I'm still not back to silver.  That other box will be needed.  Good job ombre hair is in fashion ;D.  The ends of my hair are still a lot darker than the hair on my scalp.

Third box applied.  I'll try the Job Baz next.  As long as I see no damage to my hair and I can see a difference in colour removal i'll persevere after giving my hair few weeks break.  Ive chopped quite a bit of length off the back as its obvious I'm not going to get the same removal at the back due to lack of heat.

Hi Judi,

Do you place your lengths against your head and wrap it in cling film? Then your lengths can take benefit from the heat from your head! I also blast the hair dryer to try add heat if it gets too cold with a colour remover.

I know your post was awhile, if you have already done your next one, how'd it go?

I am on my 5th box.  Sitting here with it on my head as i type.  This time ive piled all the hair onto my head and I'm sitting here with a carrier bag on my head.

Theres no damage to my hair as long as i leave a good interval between treatments to restore the moisture.  Each time i do it, the warmth is less and less.  However, ive given up on the purple toner for the time being and i am using head and shoulders in each wash.  Believe it or not washing it in head and shoulders is revealing more grey and washing away more of the warmth.  However, I'm not there yet so I'm persevering. I can live with it as it is now but I'd rather not.

By the way, ive used Colour b4, Decolour, Jo Baz (or however its spelt) and none have been any more effective than a cheapie box colour from Superdrug Colour Rewind).

It's still working after 5 boxes? Wow, I always thought if 3 applications didn't work, it simply wasn't going to work. I'm glad you're still seeing results though. Good thing you're taking care of it and restoring its moisture. How light is your hair currently? If it's light yellow but too dark for purple shampoo, you might get better results by diluting a blue toned violet semi dye with conditioner and leaving it on for a few minutes, depending on how yellow your hair is.

If I can get rid of the warmth, with a lot of love and care I think I will be back to how I was to start with.  Toning shampoos are not touching the warmth.  I think I am going to have to rely on the stripping power of Head and Shoulders from now on.  Whilst the colour remover hasn't damaged my hair it has left it pretty dry.  I need to address that now.

I dont think you will get anymore color change. It has probably gotten all or most of the color out.
If you used a permanent hair color, then your base color will not be the same as your color before coloring as peroxide in permanent dyes strips natural hair color.
